IRC Summary: The IRC in Los Angeles provides reception & placement, employment and immigration services to refugees and low-income immigrants throughout Southern California.
Job Overview: The Short-term Assistant Caseworker provides direct support to the Los Angeles resettlement team to facilitate its work resettling newly arrived refugees. This position reports to the Casework Supervisor.
Major Responsibilities:
•Assist the Los Angeles resettlement team in the provision of core services, particularly compiling complete Refugee Information Forms for both scheduled and walk-in clients, and other related activities that support the client resettlement process.
•Assist with the timely completion of client records, documentation, and case files.
•Provide interpretation services as required.
•Communicate client information to Caseworkers, as necessary.
•Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent related work experience preferred
Work Experience: 1+ years professional work experience in a social service agency. Experience as a volunteer and an understanding of IRC and refugee resettlement is also acceptable
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: Excellent interpersonal relations skills; the ability to work effectively with partners, donors, colleagues in a cross cultural, multi-disciplinary environment; solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time and meet deadlines; proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel;
Language Skills: English required; Armenian, Farsi or Spanish preferred
Certificates or Licenses: Valid driver’s license, insurance, clean driving record and reliable personal transportation
Working Environment: Standard office work environment combined with travel in and around the service delivery area.
