Project Overview and Role:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Humanitarian Information Management Officer (HIMO) is an experienced humanitarian who provide information management in support of DFID’s humanitarian response.

Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain an information management strategy, in consultation with the country office(s) concerned, including internal information flow;
* Identify and obtain the needed data and information elements required to produce analysis and information products;
* Create operational data management systems to enable effective analysis and monitoring including data quality control protocols and standards for validation and sharing of data;
* Provide information management support to joint needs assessments, DFID and/or DFID partner disaster impact assessments or capacity assessments of partners as required;
* Support in making methodological decisions about how to conduct needs assessments and/or understand/interpret the results of assessments;
* Produce visual information such as tables, graphs and other infographics in suitable format for reporting and illustration purpose;
* Provide input to draft submissions, information notes, briefings and reports;
* Support the promotion of data and information sharing within the humanitarian community;
* Maintain data and information-sharing relationships within the humanitarian community (e.g. UN, Red Cross/Crescent and NGOs) and with relevant governmental bodies.
* In coordination with existing systems, provide information management training to DFID country office and response staff as needed.

Required Qualifications: Essential Qualifications, skills and experience required
* Degree level education in information management, analysis, statistics or other related area;
* Proven experience of providing humanitarian information management support during rapid onset humanitarian crises;
* Proven and demonstrable knowledge and experience in statistics, data analysis and/or information management;
* Ability to use a logical and structured approach to collate, manage and synthesize both qualitative and quantitative information;
* Demonstrated understanding of different data collection methodologies;
* Excellent skills in visualisation of data and information;
* Advanced Excel skills are required and experience with analytical software packages and GIS software is an asset;
* Excellent networking and representational skills at all levels, which may include Government, UN, RC Movement and NGOS;
* Exceptional organisational and prioritisation, and ability to deal with a varied, demanding, often conflicting and rapidly changing workload;
