SCOPE OF WORK:
The Survivor Services Intern on the Health & Wellness Team provides support to staff and services to survivors of torture, victims of crime, victims of human trafficking, and asylum-seeking families living in Arizona. The intern will work closely with the Survivor Services Supervisor, Clinical Care Coordinator, Anti-Trafficking Coordinator, Case Managers, and the Health and Wellness Team to provide culturally competent, comprehensive services to refugee, foreign national, and immigrant survivors of war, violence, displacement, and trauma. The intern will learn how grant funded programming is administered and learn from research, reporting, and client interactions. The intern will learn how to provide trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths-based services that promote health and safety, inspire confidence, respect choice, and assist survivors in becoming active members of their community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Survivor Services Supervisor, interns will assist with the following:
Providing trauma informed and victim centered services to refugees and immigrants that have experienced significant trauma;
Providing direct service to clients through one-on-one interactions;
Assisting clients in connecting to community resources (including: transportation, food banks, libraries, shelters, etc.);
Coordinating individual appointment logistics with health or social providers;
Providing transportation for client appointments, as needed;
Collaborating with IRC staff and community partners to enhance activities and supplement services to clients;
Researching community resources and potential partner organizations;
Documenting all activities in case notes and sending weekly client reports;
Inputting client data in IRC and grant tracking systems;
Assisting with other relevant program support duties, as assigned.
