SCA Background

The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) has been working in Afghanistan since 1982, presently managing development programmes concerning Health, Education, Rural Livelihoods and Community Governance, with a total annual budget of roughly USD 40 million. The total number of staff is around 5,500. During the last 10 years SCA has undertaken a change process moving from a primarily humanitarian service delivery approach towards more of a developmental role, putting increasing emphasis on capacity development, rights-based programming and outcome orientation. The mission of SCA is to empower individuals, communities and local organizations, primarily in rural areas and with particular focus on women, girls, boys and vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, so that they may participate fully in society and influence their own development. Scope of work:

The Communicable Disease Control (CDC )  officer should Supervise Communicable disease activities of health facilities, guide the health providers and provide the needed support.

Ensure the effective and efficient implementation of CDC activities in accordance with policies and guidelines of BPHS/MOPH is applied

Ensure reports of the health facilities in connection to CDC are correct, prepared on time and submitted to project office.

Good relationship with relevant internal Department and relevant partner (PHO, TB coordinator and NTP department)

Qualifications & Requirements:

Graduated from recognized medical university(MD)

3-4 years’ relevant experience in Communicable disease, especially within an NGO, UN agencies or similar organization. Experience in training and supervision

Computer skill at operator level, especially with MS Office packages.

Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto, both written and spoken, English knowledge will be preferred

Good Interpersonal and communication skills

Supervisory, team worker and analytical skills

Ability and willingness to travel to the project sites within Whole Wardak province and adjust to SCA environment.

Honest, proactive and well mannered.

Main Responsibilities:

Work with the Heath facilities staff for ensuring accurate data collection and management of the data

Ensure and maintain appropriate CDC record keeping

Supervision of Health Centres, District Hospital and PH for CDC activities.

To participate in the emergency preparedness response (EPR) teams to outbreaks and epidemics in the province.

To ensure sufficient stock of drugs and other equipment’s for emergencies at project office.

Ensure that IP and waste management are procedures are applied in all HFs

Ensure availability and proper use of PPE and IP needed equipment's in all HFs

Ensure that all Communicable disease patients treated according to MoPH guidelines.

Collect and Analysis the TB quarterly reports and provides feedback and improvement plan to all health facilities.

 Attend the health facility coordination meeting and provide CDC reports related feedback.

Prepare action plans base on MOPH/M&E and GCMU findings to HFs.

Conduct TB, malaria and HIV trainings for the facility level staffs in his/her province.

 Provide on the job training to health facilities staff on TB, malaria, HIV/AIDs and other communicable Disease.

Prepare action plan for long term and short term activities of CDC related objective.

Any other Official  tasks delegated by supervisor (DPM/PM)
