International Medical Corps works to reduce the vulnerabilities of conflict-affected populations in eastern Ukraine and has currently one project supporting Mental Health and Child Protection from our Mariupol office. We are a team of 23 people in Mariupol and Kyiv (20 Ukrainian and 3 international staff).

IMC plans to expand and through this initiative will provide WASH in health facilities around Mariupol, mitigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic with a hygiene education component, IPC and EH pillars.

International Medical Corps commits to a coordinated response and collaborates with the national health system and the humanitarian community.

Job Purpose

The primary function of the PHE Coordinator includes delivering the overall health and WASH component for the COVID-19 response. IMC places the capacity building at its heart, this includes working and training the staff and direct beneficiaries.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead the overall COVID Health and WASH activities proposed under the OFDA

• Lead the identification of optimal program sites in collaboration with the MoH and WASH cluster;

• Directly manage the Program Assistant and 3 Health Officers (PH/EH) who, in turn lead Community Outreach Workers.

• Identification of the most appropriate community mobilization messages on health and hygiene to the target population;

• Enforce the implementation of WASH and health response program to be in line with agreed country strategy;

• Ensure SPHERE standards (both qualitative and quantitative) are considered through the program cycle and are well documented;

• Support monitoring and technical assistance to communities in coordination with CHWs.

• Provide regular updates and technical guidance to team on progress, priorities and challenges – verbally and in writing. In addition, Work closely with CD for any required technical guidance and direction of the health and WASH interventions.

• Maintain confidentiality of patient/beneficiary data;

• Represent International Medical Corps to governmental, non-governmental groups and WASH Cluster as needed and assigned with the supervisor;

• Support the program team in obtaining the required government permissions and positively engage with intuitional and private donors and HQ;

• Other duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

Qualifications

Minimum of bachelor's degree or relevant technical specialization;

• At least two years of work experience with designing Health and WASH implementation at health facility and at community level

• Good knowledge and understanding of health and WASH sectors;

• Ability to effectively present information (both written and verbally) and respond appropriately to questions from senior managers in the field, counterparts, senior government.

• Ability to understand gender related challenges within the beneficiary groups

• Excellent report writing skills

• Fluent in English. • Experience in emergency phases, including assessments and the design and delivery of effective health and WASH interventions in humanitarian and development contexts;

• Fluent Russian language skills

• Knowledge of the AOR (Mariupol, Donetsk)
