CG Communications team develops communications strategies, policies, plans and channels based on internal and external communications needs and expectations; maintains and strengthens UNOPS corporate identity through official reporting to the Executive Board and other external communications, enabling accountability and transparency; communicates a clear direction and strategic focus, ensuring that the people of UNOPS understand and can demonstrate their contribution to its success; and facilitates and encourages the sharing of information, knowledge and best practices, achieving dialogue throughout the organization.
The intern will work in the Communications Group under the direct, overall supervision of the UNOPS Internal Communications Team leader and will be exposed to the implementation of UNOPS internal communications strategy. UNOPS is committed to achieving a truly diverse workforce.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting a variety of tasks and work packages as a part of her/his internship period. S/he will notably support the Internal Communications Specialist in the coordination of planned communication activities, both in UNOPS headquarters and in UNOPS country and regional offices.
We are seeking qualified applicants who have strong communication, planning and coordination skills. The successful candidate must be client/service-oriented as well as structured, organized and detail-oriented. In addition, the incumbent is expected to demonstrate the willingness and ability to learn online systems used at UNOPS (including Google Workspace).
Depending on the successful candidate’s interests, s/he may be exposed to other support services as wished.
At the end of this internship, the successful candidate will have gained:

Two hours per week (one-on-one) with the supervisor to enhance the learning of the candidate and in the job training
Under the overall guidance of the Internal Communications Team Lead the Internal Communications Intern will be helping with:
monitoring of internal communications and knowledge sharing channels
liaising with ICT web developer in connection with the implementation of intranet improvements
providing support to the development of Corporate Google Drive
providing support to content development, maintenance, and periodic updating of UNOPS intranet in coordination with the Internal Communications team
assisting in the planning of internal event and campaign management and liaising with various working groups across the organisation
supporting the creation of the weekly internal newsletter, including assisting with the planning, content coordination and technical set-up
assisting in the maintenance of team calendars and process flows
providing support in the production of the internal communications' monthly analytical report
support with tracking and monitoring of uptake of internal communications activities
performing other related duties as required
The candidate must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor/Master’s Degree in a relevant area, preferably in Communications, Knowledge management, Public Policy, International Development, Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, or International Relations, or have graduated from such studies within three years prior to the application date of the internship.
While no prior work experience is required, some experience in developing, coordinating or delivering communications activities, ideally within the development sector, is highly desirable.
- Excellent coordination skills are highly desirable;
- Knowledge and experience working with Google Workspace and Google Analytics is desired;
- Experience in facilitating training sessions is an asset;
- Passion for own development and the development of others is strongly desired;
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential;
Working knowledge of Spanish or French is considered an asset.

The internship is expected to start in November 2020 until May 2021.
