Job Overview:  
The Airbel Impact Lab is leading the design, build and test of an Audio-Class System (ACS) for adolescent students in Cucuta, Colombia alongside the IRC Colombia office. The automated ACS can share audio, text, and visual educational content on literacy, numeracy and social studies, to any device be it through radio, basic cellphone, or smartphone with messaging capacity. ACS provides each student the most technologically advanced lesson possible and makes learning accessible for all students. ACS will increase the adolescent’s opportunity to level up and access formal education. ACS differs from existing remote learning solutions because it utilizes low to medium technology, instead of high tech such as computers, to reach the most vulnerable and granting direct access to high quality learning curriculums, that can be adapted to the capacity of each student’s device. 
The ACS is currently in a prototyping phase. The team will design the system and product strategy, adapt existing curriculum to audio, build automated workflows, and test for two weeks with up to 50 students and 2 teachers in Cucuta. 
The consultant will help the HQ team adapt a portion of the Caminar en Secundaria 6th grade curriculum to audio-based lessons for the ACS. The consultant will work alongside designers, education technical experts, and audio experts to create engaging automated educational content that can be shared through Interactive Voice Response and Whatsapp chatbots. During the 2-week implementation the consultant will review the learning experience and help advise and guide on changes needed to meet the curriculum’s requirements. At the end of the testing the consultant will share final advise for content.  
Major Responsibilities: 
The curriculum expert consultant will be a part time team member that will help us ensure our digital program is of high quality and meets Ministry of Education standards. 
•Share curriculum best practices: Provide summary documents of Caminar en Secundaria including lessons learned from application of the curriculum. 
•Lesson scripts and activities: The consultant will create short lessons scripts, supplementary learning materials and interactive activities for students alongside the HQ team.
•Review and advise on experience: The consultant will review the 2-week automated learning experience, identify opportunities for improvement, and advise on changes needed to maintain curriculum requirements.
•Training to IRC staff: Provide training on flexible learning models to program officers to better implement the program.
Job Requirements: 
Work Experience:
-Previous curriculum development experience, will be expected to provide samples
-Worked in conflict settings, with marginalized populations, or worked in public school systems 
-Worked as a flexible models teacher for 5-8 years or developing flexible learning models (FLM) such as caminar en secundaria, will be expected to provide samples
-Applied Caminar en Secundaria curriculum for at least 2-3 years (desirable but not required)
Education:
-Bachelors in education 
-Masters (desired but not required)
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: 
-Curriculum and lesson plan development and adaptation including supplemental learning materials for students.
-Ability to effectively and clearly train others
-Microsoft suite – Word and excel 
-Online tools such as google
Language Skills:  
-Spanish (required)
-English (desired but not required)

Preferred experience & skills: 
•Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills as well as, an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications
•Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to prioritize and deliver on time
•Strong problem-solving skills
•Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional global team structure
•Comfortable sharing opposing views and ideas with the team
•Experience with Colombian school system and context 
•Previous experience in curriculum development and adaptation. 
•Remote learning experience desired. 
Working Environment:  
•Fully time remote work - Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively complete their work from during regularly scheduled work hours.
