Consultancy Assignment: Curriculum Expert
The Airbel Impact Lab is leading the design, build and test of an Audio-Class System (ACS) for adolescent students in Cucuta, Colombia alongside the IRC Colombia office. The automated ACS can share audio, text, and visual educational content on literacy, numeracy and social studies, to any device be it through radio, basic cellphone, or smartphone with messaging capacity. ACS provides each student the most technologically advanced lesson possible and makes learning accessible for all students. ACS will increase the adolescent’s opportunity to level up and access formal education. ACS differs from existing remote learning solutions because it utilizes low to medium technology, instead of high tech such as computers, to reach the most vulnerable and granting direct access to high quality learning curriculums, that can be adapted to the capacity of each student’s device.
The ACS is currently in a prototyping phase. The team will design the system and product strategy, adapt existing curriculum to audio, build automated workflows, and test for two weeks with up to 50 students and 2 teachers in Cucuta.
The consultant will help the HQ team adapt a portion of the Caminar en Secundaria 6th grade curriculum to audio-based lessons for the ACS. The consultant will work alongside designers, education technical experts, and audio experts to create engaging automated educational content that can be shared through Interactive Voice Response and Whatsapp chatbots. During the 2-week implementation the consultant will review the learning experience and help advise and guide on changes needed to meet the curriculum’s requirements. At the end of the testing the consultant will share final advise for content.
