Economic Empowerment Intern (Remote)

TIME COMMITMENT: At least 2 days/15 hours per week for at least 3 months
Internship terms run: Jan - May, May - Aug, Aug - Dec and Sept - May. 
** Please note that is an unpaid internship and with all work done remotely. **

PREFERRED LANGAUGES (but not required):
French, Spanish, Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Tamil, Haitian Creole or Kiswahili

SCOPE OF WORK:       Tasks may include:


·       Research and identify programs, resources & local employers to help refugees meet their long-term educational, employment and life goals
·       Work with the Economic Empowerment team to develop relationships with financial institutions and organizations providing financial services to IRC clients
·       Develop/maintain database of financial resources for clients
·       Identify and confirm job placement opportunities for refugee clients
·       Provide one-on-one financial coaching and counseling for clients: Assist employable clients to prepare resumes, submit online job applications & prepare for interviews and
·       Client outreach to follow up on job placements, track client meetings, progress & retention rates
·       Facilitate financial literacy/education workshops for client groups
·       Other related duties as assigned, including answering and directing incoming phone calls

Learn about refugee resettlement and refugee social services
Learn how to manage client cases within established deadlines
Build and practice community outreach and presentation skills with culturally diverse groups
