Preventing Sexual Violence: Men and Boys as Allies Project Intern

SCOPE OF WORK:

The Preventing Sexual Violence: Men and Boys as Allies Project Intern will work directly with the Gender Equity and Safety (GES) Program Coordinator to support in preparing for and serving as back-up facilitator to men and boys engagement classes focused on healthy relationships, gender roles, gender-based violence and allyship. This position will be housed within the IRC Health Team and work closely with the primary facilitator of the group.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Provide support to the facilitator of the Men and Boys as Allies Classes

•Support in providing feedback of the curriculum

•Help invite clients and track attendance of classes

•Support in providing technology assistance to clients

•Refer clients, as applicable, to IRC’s in-house direct assistance program for survivors

•Attend trainings on refugee resettlement, gender-based violence (GBV) core principals, serving refugee survivors, and confidential data collection

•Ensure data is collected and stored in a secure and confidential way

•Because of the nature of the programming, a male identifying intern is preferred

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

•The intern will solidify understanding of the US Refugee Resettlement System

•The intern will practice facilitating group classes

•The intern will learn the types of gender-based violence

•The intern will gain understanding of how refugee survivor trauma may differ from that of non-refugee survivors
