Our Birmingham, UK Humanitarian Academy for Development (HAD) Head Office are actively recruiting for the position of ‘Head of Learning and Development’. Serving the Humanitarian and International Development Sector and its parent organisation Islamic Relief Worldwide - HAD is envisioned to be a hub where humanitarian and development theories and practice are studied, examined and developed. It will be a centre to train our team following the life-long learning approach the organisation adopted earlier and to develop the future leaders in the aid sector, not only individuals but entire organisations and future generations.

The Academy will foremost play a pivotal role in training of IR staff at all levels, undertaking applied research and building theory, a base to stimulate our advocacy efforts and to lead in the areas of research aid and development from an Islamic perspective

The purpose of the role is to ensure all staff globally have access to the learning and knowledge they need to perform in their roles to the best of their ability, through the management and promotion of the systems and processes by which individuals and the organisation learns. As well as this, the post holder will promote HAD sustainability by promoting Learning and Development activities to external customers and building relationships which provide the Academy with steady income.

The successful candidate must have or be:

· Extensive experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of highly effective and desirable training and development programs and activities

· Demonstrable experience and ability to manage a L&D dept by maintain a high standard of service whilst controlling calendars, events, budgets, people and processes

· Exposure and experience in Learning Management Systems and e-learning tools and processes

· Experience and proven ability to manage both people and projects across multiple countries and disciplines

· Proven experience of undertaking complex analysis of needs and return on investment strategies which will show L&D interventions have the right organisational impact and are value for money
