For every child, a fair chance

The aim is to promote polio vaccine awareness, support for eradication of wild poliovirus in Afghanistan and COVID-19 prevention, while highlighting UNICEF's mission, priorities for children in the province.

How can you make a difference?

Communication strategy: Develop a provincial communication and advocacy strategy to support the polio programme initiatives, integrated approaches and emerging situation such as COVID-19 pandemic.

Advocacy: Develop a communication plan to include local influencers to persuade the communities to use the health facilities and vaccinate their children.  Support UNICEF’s polio eradication efforts and actively participate in special events and activities to encourage change towards vaccine acceptance.

Networking and partnerships: Develop a polio programme network at provincial and district level and partnerships to achieve polio advocacy and communication objectives.

Management of Integrated Services: Manage the overall implementation of integrated services activities at provincial level.

Capacity building and support: Ensure that the provincial, regional and the country programme team are provided with professional expertise and advice on all aspects of external relations communication as required; opportunities are identified and addressed for building communication capacity among country communication team, media and other relevant partners.

Monitoring and Evaluation: Ensure that communication baselines are established against which the achievement of objectives of the communication strategy are regularly evaluated; analysis is undertaken to continuously improve the effectiveness of communication strategy, approach and activities; results and reports are prepared and shared on a timely basis.

 To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:

A minimum of five years professional work experience is required in communications, new media or other relevant fields. An undergraduate degree plus at least 7 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Proven experience in the development and implementation of high impact communication plans.

Excellence as a writer and editor, skilled at distilling large amounts of technical information for diverse audiences

Background/familiarity with emergency situations and areas with security challenges is an asset.

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Pashto is a strong asset.
