Program (Division)
Global Markets Team
Overview

The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries, while strengthening the capabilities of governments and the private sector in those countries to create and sustain high-quality health systems that can succeed without our assistance. Background on the Global Markets Team:

CHAI’s Global Markets Team (GMT) is responsible for envisioning, executing, and monitoring market shaping interventions aimed at improving the efficiency of health commodity markets for lower income countries. These interventions range from traditional policy-led and grant-financed initiatives such as pooled procurement, strategic demand forecasting, and voluntary licensing to more innovative mechanisms such as volume guarantees (VGs), advance market commitments (AMCs), and R&D incentives.

GMT collaborates closely with internal and external stakeholders to assess the potential public health impact of proposed market-shaping interventions. GMT is also responsible for managing CHAI’s relationships with branded and generic life sciences companies and working with social finance organizations in cases where development capital is needed.
