Water Accounting and Auditing Associate

Eligibility criteria

Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Chief Technical Advisor of the project, the National UN Youth Volunteer will conduct either or both water accounting and water auditing tasks depending on their background.

Task Group 1: Water Accounting

  • Assist collection and pre-processing of climate, water resources, water uses, and agriculture data
  • Conduct hydrological and climatological analysis, water resources assessment, water use and demand (agricultural, municipal or from any other sectors) estimation, create maps using GIS and remote sensing etc.
  • Participate in field missions to collect information
  • FAO is conducting water accounting and water governance analysis training in Lebanon or Jordan. The UN Youth Volunteer will support further implementation of this training, identifying the gaps, and providing suggestions that would benefit future training.
  • Organize meetings and write meetings minutes as required.

Task Group 2: Water Auditing (governance analysis)

  • Assist collection and pre-processing of data/information on water resources, uses, allocation, governance, and laws
  • Summarizes findings in a concise manner from a review of the collected information
  • Participate in field missions to collect information
  • FAO is conducting water accounting and water governance analysis training in Lebanon or Jordan. The UN Youth Volunteer will support further implementation of this training, identifying the gaps, and providing suggestions that would benefit future training.
  • Organize meetings and write meetings minutes as required.

And any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:

Bachelor degree in relevant area.

Required experience: Experience remark:
  • Water accounting, water resources assessment, water use and demand estimation, GIS and Remote Sensing, governance analysis, socio-economic study, and/or review of regulations related to water;
  • Developing, implementing, analyzing the results of field survey and interviews;
  • Excellent research skills;
  • Writing skill for technical and workshop reports in English;
Language skills:
  • Arabic(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge
