OVERVIEW:

The Center for Wellbeing team provides intensive case management and counseling to survivors of torture, victims of crime, victims of human trafficking and asylum-seeking families living in Arizona. The Clinical Intern will work closely with the Clinical Supervisor, Caseworkers, and Wellness Team to provide culturally competent, comprehensive services to refugee, foreign national, and immigrant survivors of war, violence, displacement, and trauma. In addition, they will learn how to provide trauma-informed, victim-centered, strengths-based services that promote health and safety, inspire confidence, respects choice, and assists survivors towards independence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Conduct intake assessment and provide individual/couple’s/family counseling to all assigned clients

· Provides support for group counseling including preparation and co-facilitation

· Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs on clients' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives

· Refer clients to community resources or to specialists as necessary

· Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments or develop treatment plans

· Assess clients for risk of suicide attempts and domestic violence

· Arrange for interpreters for counseling sessions where needed

· Complete and maintain required clinical documentation in a timely manner

· Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment

· Attend weekly individual supervision

· Provides consultation to staff as needed

· Perform additional internship-related duties and responsibilities as requested

· Work in both standard office environment and community-based environment
