ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The IT Solutions Developer will work in the Programme Unit and in collaboration with the other units of WFP

JOB PURPOSE

To support the delivery of efficient and effective IT and Telecommunications (TC) services, contributing to sound, innovative solutions that enable staff to deliver food assistance to beneficiaries, in line with WFP’s strategy.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Within delegated authority, the IT Solutions Developer will be responsible for the following duties: (These duties are generic and thus are not all-inclusive nor are all duties carried out by all IT Solutions Developers)

 

Job Content:

 

  • Develop Information technology solutions to support strategic initiatives relevant to the programme unit.
  • Coordinate software development and integration with existing WFP official corporate database systems including the food, cash distribution and monitoring databases to enable the tracking of inputs, outputs, process monitoring findings, and target achievements over time.
  • Data management: Support on collection, storage, distribution, integration and application of information and knowledge management in the programme unit including data visualization.
  • Develop sections of the Syria Monitoring Database (SMD a MySQL Database) to assist in the information management of different programme units: Administrate, Develop and Maintain relevant sections on the Syria Monitoring
  • Oversee user support and all aspects of problem management to ensure timely delivery of services at Country Office (CO) and Field Offices (FO).
  • Draft standard operating procedures for users and prepare guidelines to document steps taken to develop inhouse databases.
  • Periodic Reporting: Support reconciliation of food dispatched, receipts and distribution points and the distribution reports from the cooperating partners. Prepare periodic updates to different units on the status of implementation of different activities.
  • Data visualisation: Lead the development and integration of data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, GIS) with the databases, ensure products reflect users’ needs.
  • Train users on how to interact with the data visualisation tools.
  • Conduct field visits to all field offices maintaining the direct dialogue with beneficiaries and technical support and enhanced communication with field-based M&E staff. Prepare and submit Field visit report including and programmatic recommendations.
  • Perform other related duties as required

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced University degree in Computer Science, engineering or any other related subjects with an additional one year of related work experience or First University Degree with at least three years of related work experience

Experience: One year post graduate relevant professional experience if holding a Master’s Degree, and three years post graduate relevant professional experience if holding a Bachelor’s University Degree.

Language: Fluency (level C) both in English and Arabic language.
