Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Regional Communications Coordinator to strengthen the communication work in the Asia Region.

 

About the job

The Regional Communications Coordinator will be part of the DRC Regional team, working out of Yangon, Myanmar. The Asia Region is supporting the country operations in Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Myanmar. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

 

  • Defining the overall vision and developing the strategic direction of DRC communication work in the Asia region, while ensuring alignment with DRC’s global priorities.
  • Provide support to country offices in the region on relevant DRC communication policies and strategies and directly involve in prioritised communication initiatives originating from the countries.
  • Focal Point for all communication staff in the region.
  • Focal Point on communication between the county offices, representation (Brussels & Geneva) offices and HQ on ways of working and operationalising communications principles and strategies.
  • Coordinate and consolidate country office input to design, develop and create country specific overviews (annual report, newsletter, leaflet, DRC profile) of DRC’s work to be used by programme staff and senior management for external purposes (donor meetings, events, news outlets etc.).
  • Training and capacity building of country office communications focal points
  • Lead and coordinate the overall communications work of the regional office, including online platforms and social media, traditional media, publications, blogs, branding materials, events and campaigns for greatest impact.

 

 

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have senior communications experience from similar roles in the humanitarian and/or development sectors. Moreover, we also expect the following:

 

Required

  • At least 7 years' experience in relevant field at national or international level in public relations, communications, specializing in implementation and assistance to planning and design of communications strategies
  • At least 5 years prior experience working on humanitarian issues, refugee rights, human rights, and/or development issues.
  • Experience in media, communication and/or journalism
  • Knowledge of html, internet publishing tools, and other web-based software
  • High level analytical and strategic thinking and writing skills
  • Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people.
  • Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities.

Contract length: 12 months

Band: F – Non-Management

Designation of Duty Station: The position is unaccompanied, Yangon is a Family Duty Station

Start date: 1 January 2021
