Eligibility criteria

Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Analyst, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

1. Support the formulation and the effective implementation of the programmes:

  • Support the planning, implementation and monitoring phases of programmatic activities;
  • Support the development of programme work plans and budgets and in their quarterly updates;
  • Assist in collecting data, assessing and reporting key results for progress reportin and support production of periodic reports (quarterly and/or annual);
  • Support documentation for best practices and lessons learned linked tostrategic and operational objectives of the programmes and assist in writing success stories about results achieved and efforts;
  • Support quality assurance in the review of documentation, reports and e-mails and initiate corrective actions;
  • Support in the preparation of terms of reference for the consultants needed in order to achieve the work plan deliverables;
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to programmes meetings and committees;
  • Maintain an efficient filing/documentation system of programme documents, ensuring their safekeeping;
  • Maintain good relations and effective coordination between institutional partners, civil society, and the United Nations development system.

2. Support the financial monitoring of programme activities:

  • Formulate the budget, control allotments, monitor expenditures, and prepare revisions according to the needs of the programmes;
  • Create projects, perform budget revisions in Atlas, and determine unutilized funds;
  • Monitor the setup of budgets in ATLAS to ensure their accordance with budgets agreed with donors and are input into ATLAS;
  • Contribute to the preparation of regular financial reviews and reports of the programmes;
  • Prepare the supporting documents and requests for procurement and payments;
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor;
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Master degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:

International Development, International Relations, Political Sciences; Economics, Finance or Equivalent.
