The recruitment process for General Service positions is subject to specific local recruitment criteria. The ILO may only offer a contract to persons who have a valid residency status and work permit in Turkey.

Development cooperation appointments are not expected to lead to a career in the ILO and they do not carry any expectation of renewal or conversion to any other type of appointment in the Organization. A one-year fixed-term contract will be given at the first step of the grade. Extensions of development cooperation contracts are subject to various elements including the following: availability of funds, continuing need of the functions and satisfactory conduct and performance.

Introduction

 

ILO Office for Turkey has been sustaining technical support and responding to child labour in seasonal agriculture particularly hazelnut sector through public-private partnership projects since 2012 in connection with “CPO TUR 101-Tripartite constituents take policy and programme action to eliminate child labour, with specific emphasis on children working in seasonal agriculture” under “Outcome 7 on Adequate and Effective Protection for All”. 

 

In this framework, “Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labour in Seasonal Agriculture in Hazelnut Harvesting Project” financed by Ferrero International S.A. aims to contribute to the elimination of the worst forms of child labour (WFCL) in seasonal agriculture, specifically to facilitate engagement between public and private sector actors for withdrawal and prevention of children from worst forms of child labour in seasonal agriculture in hazelnut harvesting.

The project is based on three outputs:

 

  1. Strengthened national and local capacity for the elimination of WFCL in seasonal agriculture in hazelnut harvesting;
  2. Implementation and scaling up of direct intervention mechanism in areas where seasonal hazelnut harvesting exists;
  3. Raising awareness on the elimination of WFCL in seasonal agriculture in hazelnut harvesting among general public, national and local stakeholders and supply chain actors.

 

The ILO will be operationally and technically responsible for the referred project which will be implemented and managed by the ILO in close cooperation with the Directorate General of Labour of the MoFLSS and social partners. The Project Assistant will assist the Senior Project Coordinator and will undertake the below mentioned duties.  

Reporting Lines

 

The Project Assistant will report to the Senior Project Coordinator under the overall supervision of the Director of the ILO Office for Turkey.

Description Duties

  1. Provide administrative support for the timely delivery of the project results and outputs and carry out specific administrative operational tasks for project and programme activities.
  2. Provide informal translation support (from English to Turkish and from Turkish to English) when required.
  3. Provide assistance to the CTA and project team members for organization of their meetings and project activities.
  4. Organise project team members schedule, help organization of their meetings, preparation of meeting agenda and meeting minutes.
  5. Assist in organisation of meetings and seminars including preparing budgets, coordinating travels and lodging of participants.
  6. Maintain and keep registers and control plans on the status of project and take appropriate follow-up action.
  7. Assist in drafting terms of references of external collaborator contracts and follow up the external collaboration contracts in terms of timely delivery of outputs, advance, progress and final payments, and amendments if necessary.
  8. Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and documents and maintain administrative records.

     9. Prepare and follow up travel authorizations, security clearances and travel arrangements.

    10. Prepare background material, working papers and tables for briefing and review.

    11. Draft correspondence, reports, evaluations and justifications as required on project administration/ or other  related tasks.

    12. Draft other non-substantive correspondence on project and programme activities.

    13. Obtain and keep contact details of project stakeholders, wider audience; prepare invitation letters/cards, send invitations for project activities and trainings; follow up invitations.

    14. Perform necessary tasks under the ILO’s internal integrated resource utilization system and software (IRIS).

    15. Undertake missions accompanying others to review administrative and programmatic matters of project activities.

    16. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Senior Project Coordinator and the Director of ILO Office for Turkey.

Education

 

  • Completion of secondary school education.

Experience

 

  • At least 6 years of progressively responsible clerical or administrative work, of which at least two years in programme support activities.
  • Experience in working with vulnerable groups will be an asset.

Languages

 

  • Excellent command of English and Turkish both oral and written.
