The Private Fundraising and Partnerships Plan sets out the results and strategies that UNICEF will pursue to maximize resources and leverage the influence of the private sector, defined as the general public, civil society, business and private foundations and other social groups that influence decision-makers. The Private Fundraising and Partnerships Plan supports the UNICEF Strategic Plan 2018-2021 and other organizational strategies and frameworks. In implementing this Plan, National Committees, UNICEF country offices and headquarters divisions will work together to expand strategic engagement with the private sector and advocate to advance child rights. Internal Communication and Knowledge Management play as critical role in connecting National Committees, Private Sector Fundraising country offices with the latest strategies, initiatives, campaigns, knowledge products and tools to help them do their work to raise resources, support and engagement for UNICEF’s universal mandate to protect the rights of every child. Knowledge sharing, and internal communication are supported by tools and mechanisms in our digital workplace to optimize the use and exchange of information, one of the key crosscutting enabling strategies in the Plan.

Internal Communication and Knowledge Management play as critical role in connecting National Committees, Private Sector Fundraising country offices with the latest strategies, initiatives, campaigns, knowledge products and tools to help them do their work to raise resources, support and engagement for UNICEF’s universal mandate to protect the rights of every child. Knowledge sharing, and internal communication are supported by tools and mechanisms in our digital workplace to optimize the use and exchange of information, one of the key crosscutting enabling strategies in the Plan.

How can you make a difference?

The Intranet Communication Specialist will provide support to the Digital Workplace Specialist, the Knowledge Management Specialist and the Internal Communication Manager:

  • Support the Internal Communication Manager with intranet content governance, aligning with global channels and connecting with National Committees to ensure relevant and timely content is published
  • Provide support to internal communication team in publishing pages and formatting within the standards set out by the Digital Workplace Specialist
  • Provide analytics on engagement with the PFP intranet and Yammer communities by key stakeholders
  • Advise and support publishers and site owners on SharePoint best practices and provide technical support where required
  • Support the production of virtual events including micro sites and information publication
  • Provide technical, writing and design support to a range of products such as articles, PowerPoint, video and handbooks etc.

MAIN TASKS

Working under the supervision of the Internal Communication Manager and closely with the Digital Workplace Specialist, the Intranet Communication Specialist will have the following responsibilities:

  1. Support to the Internal Communication Team (50%)
  • Support in the reviewing of PFP intranet and Yammer content from UNICEF global sites and cross-link, highlight and align with PFP internal communication channels
  • Review and monitor aggregated SharePoint pages for relevant and timely content to meet the needs of private sector engagement key stakeholders and audiences
  • Monitor the PFP intranet page views and Yammer communities, providing regular analytics for measuring engagement performance
  • Assist in the publishing and production of content for the PRIME team (PFP Strategic Planning), including news, announcements, meetings and events, infographics, videos or photos
  1. Assist the PFP Intranet publishers’ community in publishing content and guiding them to follow best practices and page templates on the Intranet (50%):
  • ‘Help Desk’ function to answer questions related to Intranet publishing on the intranet
  • Guide content publishers in how to best publish and write content online following PFP’s How to write for the Intranet guidelines
  • Assist the Intranet Manager in the development and production of virtual online events
  • Assist the Intranet Manager in the maintenance of the Division’s collaboration sites
  • Attend the weekly ‘Intranet cafes’ sessions to answer questions and requests from content publishers
  • Support in the gathering of quarterly analytics
  • When required, report change requests to the Intranet Manager

DELIVERABLES

  • Regular monitoring of intranet sites for relevant and timely content
  • Support the community management of PFP Yammer communities and promotion
  • Regular monitoring of global internal communication channels and highlight content for cross-linking
  • Help maintain the intranet information architecture and taxonomy
  • Support the running of intranet cafés, suggest topics and prepare content
  • Produce 40 quality reviews of the intranet
  • Assist the Intranet Manager with the monthly 'How to publish on the Intranet' training sessions
  • Support the production of quarterly analytical reports

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • First level university degree in information technology, web design, or a relevant field is required.
  • A minimum of five years of work experience in public or internal communication, or intranet management and publishing is required.
  • Solid experience in Office 365 range of products and SharePoint Online Classic and Modern is required.
  • Experience with intranet content management and SharePoint collaboration sites would be a strong asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Good writing and editing skills in English is required. Fluency in other UN official languages would be an asset
  • Ability to work independently and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with the work of UNICEF, UN entities, UNICEF National Committees and/or private sector fundraising would be an asset.

ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL

The contract duration is 11.5 months, full-time, tentatively starting in January 2021

REPORTING TO 

The incumbent will report primarily to the Internal Communication Manager who will provide overall supervision, direction and guidance.
