Description

Galileo G2 Project Space Segment Security Engineer in the Galileo Second Generation System Security Service Unit, Galileo 2nd Generation Project Office, Galileo Programme Department, Directorate of Navigation.

Duties

You will be responsible for overall activities related to Space Segment Security Engineering for Galileo Second Generation, including the definition and consolidation of requirements, as well as their verification, validation, qualification and certification. You will establish and coordinate activities within the Programme and with industrial consortia, and liaise with internal Agency entities and external entities in carrying out your duties.

The responsibilities of this post will, within project boundaries and constraints, and under the supervision of the Head of the Galileo Second Generation System Security Services, and with the main focus being to act as the lead manager for all the different security activities in the G2G Space Segment contracts established by the Galileo Space Segment Management Office, include:

  • Leading the definition, analyses and consolidation of Space Segment security requirements. This covers both classified and unclassified aspects for which close coordination with the G2G System Engineering Services will be required;
  • Implementing overall security engineering for the G2 Space segment, including security requirements flow-down, implementation follow-up, security operations engineering and maintenance of the Galileo Evolutions Mission Security Baseline;
  • Implementing and ensuring technical end-to-end consistency of the security requirements at Space Segment level;
  • Defining and maintaining the technical (functional, performance, operational) security requirements applicable to procurement of the Space Segment infrastructure, and ensuring their overall traceability;
  • Defining the G2 Space Segment verification, validation, qualification and certification activities, in order to support the overall qualification of the security requirements at System level;
  • Contributing to the G2G system architecture and operations concept;
  • Supporting the Agency’s interaction with the Working Group of National Experts Team, the WG- TEC, WG SPECIAL PRS, the Security Accreditation Panel (GSAP);
  • Implementing the G2G engineering and procurement activities relating to the security equipment within the G2 Space Segment;
  • Organising and leading the security part of segment design reviews (PDR and CDR), as well as the qualification phase reviews (QR, FRR, LRR), in order to steer the end-to-end engineering cycle;
  • Implementing the G2G Cyber Security activities associated with the G2G Space Segment;
  • Supporting preparation for G2G core infrastructure accreditation;
  • Supporting preparation of the documentation required by the SAB to perform the accreditation process;
  • Supporting implementation of the G2G Advanced PRS IOC and FOC Services, including completion of the associated system infrastructure and service milestones, as well as the corresponding service validation activities;
  • Generating lessons learned and contributing to Knowledge Management initiatives in the Directorate of Navigation;
  • Supporting R&D activities relating to the Galileo 2nd Generation Project under the H2020 & Horizon Europe Programmes in the area of Space Segment Security.

In the execution of your tasks, you will, as Galileo G2 Space Segment Engineer, coordinate the industrial support team and cooperate closely with the other team members working on System Security Design, Verification and Operations.
You will be the lead manager for space security activities under the different G2 Satellite Contracts established by the Space Segment Management Office.

Education

A Master’s degree in telecommunications engineering or similar with is required.

Additional requirements

In-depth knowledge of security and GNSS systems is required.

You should be able to coordinate, monitor and lead the engineering support provided to the Project in your areas of expertise.

You should be able to demonstrate that you can work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure as may typically occur in a project team. You should be results-oriented, able to set priorities, and capable of presenting practical solutions both verbally and in writing.

You should have interpersonal and communication skills. You should have the ability to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse, international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines. You should also have good technical, analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest in innovative technologies.

You must be eligible for security clearance from your national security authority. Already having security clearance is an  asset.

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
