The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Tehran seeks a dedicated, experienced, highly motivated and proactive Operations Associate at GS-6 level for its Operations Team. Under the supervision of the Country Office Operations Manager, the Associate will provide support and assistance to supervisor and Operations section.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Tehran seeks a dedicated, experienced, highly motivated and proactive Operations Associate at GS-6 level for its Operations Team. Under the supervision of the Country Office Operations Manager, the Associate will provide support and assistance to supervisor and Operations section.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support direct supervisor, Operations Manager, in coordination with all units, sections, UN agencies, and service providers.
  • Support official trips (communication with travel agent, initiate air bookings, follow up on the purchase of air tickets and review official documents related to official trips).
  • Follow up support on related actions to UNICEF events and communication with venues.
  • Follow up on the settlement and clearance of invoices related to Operational services (air tickets, hotels, service providers…etc).
  • Compile and report on Environmental Footprint and Accessibility status through the Environmental Footprint & Accessibility Assessment (EFAAT- Tool).
  • Operational Support in VISION (SAP) and other related areas: 
    • Support the Operations Section in reconciling the monthly cash forecast related to every unit in Operations.
    • Monitor the status of official trips in VISION (SAP).
    • Monitor and follow up on the open commitments of Operations.
    • Support the Operations section during the peak periods of year.
  • Follow up with OPS units and programme sections on the operational actions.
  • Follow up support to ministries on official documents related to travel such as entry visas.
  • Prepare and maintain agendas on meetings and events related to the Operations team.
  • Support the supervisor administratively and logistically in their planning functions related to the safety and security of UNICEF personnel and eligible family members as well as the safeguarding of premises, assets, and resources in accordance with UN and UNICEF Security Management Systems.
  • Assist the supervisor in the development of UNICEF routine documents related to DSS.
  • Assist the supervisor in following up on the security clearance of official trips.
  • Coordinate, as required, with UNDSS, on behalf of the Operations Manager, to ensure all UNICEF personnel undertake mandatory security training/briefings.
  • Translate official documents from Farsi into English and vice versa – when needed.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education: Completion of secondary education. Certification course in general administration, accounting or related courses is desired. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting or any related area is an asset.

Experience: Minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible work experience in the areas of general administration/accounting/safety of staff or related work is required.

Computer literacy and the ability to effectively use standard office software tools and other office technology such as Microsoft word, excel, to create documentation, exchange and archive e-mail, and maintain electronic filing systems.

Language requirement: Fluency in English and Farsi is required. Knowledge of another UN working language is an asset.
