About The Role: This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in casework / social work and passionate about human rights. The caseworker will be in direct contact with women who are asylum seekers & refugees. The caseworker will assist them with daily necessities and legal immigration requirements.

Your work will make a tremendous difference in the lives of the courageous members of this community and will provide you an incredible opportunity to learn about different cultures, traditions, world views, and languages.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain weekly check-ins with your assigned members, 15 min - 1 hr sessions on average
  • Facilitate the transfer of information that will enable members to prepare relevant documentation and access to specialized care
  • Facilitate group meetings for house members on average, once per month
  • Carry out a risk assessment and make referrals when necessary, inform members of the existing provisions available to them and encourage them to explore and map external safe spaces
  • Prepare weekly case reports and provide recommendations
  • Support and guide residents in their job search and housing search
  • Coordinate with translators and cultural mediators as necessary
  • Carry out crisis management and de-escalation techniques in special emergency situations
  • Collaborate on data collection and mapping of structures and services for the target population
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all information of the members
  • Promote long-term strategy and problem/conflict resolution
  • Undertake other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • The position is open for female candidates only
  • Availability to work 30 hours/week
  • Candidates must be based in Greece
  • Greek citizenship or eligible to work within the EU
  • Background in social work or counseling
  • Experience working in Greece
  • Firm understanding of the asylum process in Greece
  • Experience in Casework
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity
  • Required proficiency in English and French. Arabic or Farsi would be an asset, but not required.
