About The Role: This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in casework / social work and passionate about human rights. The caseworker will be in direct contact with women who are asylum seekers & refugees. The caseworker will assist them with daily necessities and legal immigration requirements.
Your work will make a tremendous difference in the lives of the courageous members of this community and will provide you an incredible opportunity to learn about different cultures, traditions, world views, and languages.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain weekly check-ins with your assigned members, 15 min - 1 hr sessions on average
- Facilitate the transfer of information that will enable members to prepare relevant documentation and access to specialized care
- Facilitate group meetings for house members on average, once per month
- Carry out a risk assessment and make referrals when necessary, inform members of the existing provisions available to them and encourage them to explore and map external safe spaces
- Prepare weekly case reports and provide recommendations
- Support and guide residents in their job search and housing search
- Coordinate with translators and cultural mediators as necessary
- Carry out crisis management and de-escalation techniques in special emergency situations
- Collaborate on data collection and mapping of structures and services for the target population
- Ensure the confidentiality of all information of the members
- Promote long-term strategy and problem/conflict resolution
- Undertake other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- The position is open for female candidates only
- Availability to work 30 hours/week
- Candidates must be based in Greece
- Greek citizenship or eligible to work within the EU
- Background in social work or counseling
- Experience working in Greece
- Firm understanding of the asylum process in Greece
- Experience in Casework
- Cross-cultural sensitivity
- Required proficiency in English and French. Arabic or Farsi would be an asset, but not required.
