UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering an Associate E-Commerce Officer (Payment Analyst), UNOPS IICA-1/LICA-9 position within the Digital Engagement Section.

Organisational context

 

UNHCR’s Digital Engagement Section (DES), part of the wider Division of External Relations (DER) section, oversees the activities of UNHCR’s digital presence globally and ensures our core audiences are delivered high quality user experience that helps each business unit within UNHCR meet its objectives (fundraising, advocacy, engagement).

This role is part of the E-Commerce team positioned within DES to support key fundraising markets across the organization to streamline e-commerce activities and services; support on diversifying donor acquisition and engagement tools; and offer expert support on payment performance analysis, conversion optimization, and the latest in payments trends/technology.

 

 

One of the core objectives of this team is to help the organization to accelerate public engagement and audience growth from digital channels, and contribute to the one billion dollar strategy which consists in raising
$1 billion USD from the private sector each year by 2025 and engaging with 25 million people in support of the refugee cause.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

Reporting to the Digital Marketing Officer (E-Commerce), the individual contractor will ensure to deliver the following requirements:

Performance Analysis:

  • Daily monitoring of transaction statuses and performance to identify potential technical issues with payments processing, checkout errors, system errors

  • Prioritize, investigate and resolve payments issues and improve donors’ payment experience in concern with cross-functional partners and payment providers

  • Create detailed business analysis, outlining problems, opportunities and solutions for various fundraising markets globally

  • Analyze and report on payments performance and KPIs, e.g. acceptance rates, chargebacks and refunds, transaction volumes, payment gateway and payment service providers performance

  • Keep up-to date with the constantly changing, growing payments industry Fraud Prevention & Risk Management:

  • Observe donors’ transactions in large data sets to identify fraudulent activity such as friendly fraud, theft, bot attacks and similar other risks

  • Create new fraud rules and edit existing rules to better identify fraudulent transactions

  • Determine existing fraud trends by analyzing accounts and transaction patterns

  • Report on suspicious activity and risk management

  • Keep up-to date on new technologies for fraud detection

    Financial Responsibilities:

• Monitor and track transaction related costs (processing fees, refund fees, 2

disputes, currency conversions, and other)

  • Provide solutions leading to transaction processing cost reduction

  • Negotiate fees with financial services providers (payment gateways, credit card

    corporations, banks, mobile payments providers, etc.)

  • Define process for monitoring gross and net fundraising income, reporting on

    data discrepancies between data sources, compare bank statements with

    financial records

  • Participate in building consistent, accurate and smooth earmarking process

  • Reconciling reports to bank statements

  • Support fundraising markets on budgeting and forecasting

     
  • Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required

     

    The ideal candidate will have:

  •  

    Education:

    University degree (BA) -preferably Digital Marketing, Data Analysis or Business Qualifications or related field of study is required

    Work experience:

  • Minimum 3yrs (and 2yrs for master’s degree holders) of relevant experience in combination the relevant university education

  • Extensive experience working with e-commerce platforms, payment gateways and understanding digital payment behaviour

  • E-Commerce performance analysis and reporting on digital income

  • Fraud analysis, prevention and risk management

  • Organization, communication and teamwork skills.

    Desirable:

  • Experience working with Not-For-Profit, Charities or International Organizations

  • Experience working with various payment gateways, including: Worldpay, Stripe,

    PayPal

  • Experience building reports with Power BI and financial software

  • A second language would be of added value (Spanish, French, Arabic)

  • Background or interest in refugee issues and/or international relations

  • Conditions

     

    It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).

    The successful candidate will be working from home.
