Who we are

With over 50 years of experience, working in over 40+ countries, Population Services International (PSI) is the world's leading non-profit social marketing organization. PSI is reimagining healthcare, by putting the consumer at the center, and wherever possible – bringing care to the front door. We are working to fix market failures, shape future health markets and shift policy and funding to better support consumer powered healthcare.

There are over 5,000 “PSI'ers” around the world. We are a diverse group of entrepreneurial development professionals with a wide range of backgrounds and experience. All with unique skills that we bring to the critically important work that we do.

Join us!

PSI's Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Department supports programs in 37 countries (and counting) to deliver high-quality family planning and safe abortion services to women and girls.

The SRH Department seeks an energetic and creative candidate to provide technical oversight for a $18-million five-year investment called Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC), made possible with generous support from the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF). The DISC project is working with consumers, healthcare providers, governments and health systems in Nigeria and Uganda to catalyze voluntary self-injection of DMPA-SC contraceptives and promote additional forms of self-care. The investment aims to better understand the conditions under which consumers and providers will demand self-care interventions, and the feasibility of delivering high quality, cost-effective, self-care services at scale.

We are looking for an Assistant Program Manager (APM) who can provide robust project management support to DISC and proactively contribute to making project operations even more streamlined and efficient. The APM will be expected to support the core program management team (currently consisting of the Director, Deputy Director, and Manager) with typical project management tasks relating to knowledge management, contracts / procurement, and financial management & reporting.

The candidate we hire will embody PSI's corporate values

  • Measurement: You use hard evidence to make decisions and guide your work. You set clear goalposts in advance and explain clearly if you need to move them.
  • Pragmatism: You'll strive to deliver the best possible result with the resources available. You won't be paralyzed by a need to make things perfect.
  • Honesty: You own your mistakes and are open about your shortcomings – it's the only way you'll learn and improve.
  • Collaboration: You'll quickly establish a mental map of whom you can rely on for what, on your team, at headquarters, and in our country offices – if you try to do it all yourself, you won't succeed.
  • Trust: You accept limits to your sphere of control and give colleagues the benefit of the doubt.
  • Commitment: You are in it for the long-haul and want to grow with the organization, just like PSI serves its consumers and partners with host-country governments through thick and thin.

Icing on the cake

  • Virtual Collaboration Guru. You excel at managing geographically dispersed teams, making effective and innovative use of digital forums to proactively communicate and lead teams remotely.
  • Women's Rights and Self-Care Advocate. You are passionate about making people's healthcare experience as 'frictionless' as possible by equipping them with everything they need to meet their own healthcare needs, thereby empowering users and reducing strain on formal healthcare systems. You are also enthusiastic about promoting safe abortion and equipping women with knowledge and resources to make the choices that are right for them.
  • Mind for Process Improvement. You bring awareness and commitment to doing work effectively and efficiently. We want people who will see a way to streamline or improve a process and who won't hesitate to share their ideas in making it happen.
  • Champion of Fun. You support the idea that the team that works hard should play hard. We like people with a team attitude who smile and encourage others through both easy and tough tasks.
