PSI's Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Department supports programs in 37 countries (and counting) to deliver high-quality family planning and safe abortion services to women and girls.

The SRH Department seeks an energetic and creative candidate to provide technical oversight for a $18-million five-year investment called Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC), made possible with generous support from the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF). The DISC project is working with consumers, healthcare providers, governments and health systems in Nigeria and Uganda to catalyze voluntary self-injection of DMPA-SC contraceptives and promote additional forms of self-care. The investment aims to better understand the conditions under which consumers and providers will demand self-care interventions, and the feasibility of delivering high quality, cost-effective, self-care services at scale.

We are looking for an Assistant Program Manager (APM) who can provide robust project management support to DISC and proactively contribute to making project operations even more streamlined and efficient. The APM will be expected to support the core program management team (currently consisting of the Director, Deputy Director, and Manager) with typical project management tasks relating to knowledge management, contracts / procurement, and financial management & reporting.

Help Achieve Operational Integrity and Programmatic Success

  • Support consultant and agency procurements from start to finish; from posting RFPs to drafting evaluation summaries and submitting documentation to Procurement
  • Provide ongoing backstopping support to consultants, such as modifying agreements as needed, coordinating invoice approvals, managing SharePoint / Teams access, etc.
  • Support project financial management by contributing to burn rate analysis and drafting quarterly and ad hoc financial reporting summaries to share with our donor, CIFF, in consultation with the Senior Financial Analyst and Program Manager
  • Assume responsibility for Knowledge Management of the project, including; managing permissions / access for SharePoint and Teams folders and channels; conducting periodic file audits; saving files in appropriate folders and introducing new organizational structures as helpful
  • Serve as primary program management focal point for one or more technical workstream of interest
  • Support robust internal project operations through meeting scheduling across time zones and ensuring the right participants are involved in relevant communications
  • Contribute to donor reporting by drafting, editing and/or coordinating completion of quarterly narrative reports and other project deliverables
  • Advise Program Manager and other staff members on relevant issues and developments as they arise across the project
  • Fulfill other programmatic and administrative functions as required.

What are we looking for?

The basics

  • At least three years of relevant project management work experience required, including financial management and compliance
  • Passion for ensuring women's access to high quality SRH services and supplies
  • Cross-cultural understanding and sensitivity required
  • Prior work experience in a low- or middle-income country (LMIC) strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and manage competing priorities through proactive communication and effective multi-tasking
  • Strong analytical/problem solving capabilities
  • Experience working on relevant donor-funded development and/or global health projects (e.g. CIFF, BMGF, USAID, etc.)
  • Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) required
  • Advanced skills in Excel, word processing, budget management and monitoring, and data analysis
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Fluency in English
