arche noVa - initiative for people in need is an independent, non-religious, non-profit and non-governmental organisation (NGO) from Germany working in the fields of humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development. The primary focus of our activities lies in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH).

The organisation is based in Dresden, Germany, and is a member of Aktion Deutschland Hilft (ADH), the alliance of German aid organizations. arche noVa bears since 1996 the donation seal of the German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI).

In Myanmar arche noVa is active since September 2008. At the moment we are implementing projects in two different regions: Northern Shan State and Rakhine State. Our main sectors are: WASH, DRR and basic infrastructure. For the implementation and coordination of arche noVa’ country program we are looking for a

Head of Programmes Myanmar (m/f/d)

The responsibilities of the Program Manager include operational and project management, financial management, communication and representation of arche noVa to the local authorities and the other local stakeholders. The Head of Programmes Myanmar is based in Yangon with frequent travel to project sites.

Position to be filled: 1st of March 2021

Responsibilities:

The Head of Programmes will

• Be responsible for planning, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation of project activities as well as impacts of the projects
• Provide accurate and timely project-related reports
• Prepare future proposals as well as seek new funding opportunities
• Ensure Budget Control in cooperation with Head of Finance
• Be responsible for optimal use of logistical, financial and human resources
• Provide PR department at HQ with relevant material for the visibility of the project and further fundraising
• Focal person for PSEA
• Be responsible for the organization and the monitoring of all procurement within the project in coordination with the Logistician
• Be responsible for interim and final reports in coordination with the head of mission
• Coordinate and link with partners, donors, stakeholders; proactively seek potential collaborations and funding opportunities
• Provide Human Resource Management/Team leading/on-the-job coaching
• Develop structures and processes

Requirements:

• A relevant College or University degree and or a relevant special vocational training showing a strong thematically background in WaSH
• Minimum of 7 years demonstrated experience in international emergency and development project management (> 2 years in a leading position oversea)
• Fluency in English (written and oral)
• Demonstrated experience in programme and human resource management
• Experience in writing project proposals incl. budget and monitoring of those projects
• Ability to effectively lead an intercultural team
• Flexibility, ability to work under stress and capacity to meet tight deadlines

Nice to have:

• Experience in WaSH, DRR and / or basic infrastructure
• Language knowledge in German
• Awareness of the Myanmar humanitarian, development, security and political context
• Working experience in an Asian context
• Knowledge in Funds of Donors (like BMZ, UN Ocha Pooled Based Fund, DFID, Unicef)
• Knowledge especially in implementing emergency relief projects and transitional aid

Duration: 12 months with possibility of extension
