Company Description

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.

Job Description

Introduction

You will introduce new methods for open data access, analysis preservation and reinterpretation. You will develop new data science and machine learning techniques for data processing and analysis. CERN, take part!

Functions

You will:

  • Design and develop new software tools and data analysis frameworks for offline data analysis using the novel ATLAS Run-3 analysis formats.
  • Take a leading role in defining and implementing the ATLAS open data strategy and the experiments approach to analysis preservation and reinterpretation, including in particular approaches like RECAST und REANA.
  • Build up a data science activity and help develop an infrastructure to study and apply machine learning and data science techniques, including modern notebook based data analysis infrastructures.
  • Work with students and fellows on the application of novel data science and machine learning techniques for data processing and physics analysis.
