The Accountability and Compliance Officer is responsible for supporting all NRC Syria compliance requirements
Duties and responsibilities
  • Conduct field visits prepare the compliance reports
  • Help facilitate corruption risk mapping annually across all offices and departments and all monitor that mitigations are being followed up with.
  • Support the design of and deliver effective tools and training for countering corruption across NRC Syria
  • Provide advice and guidance on internal compliance and anti-corruption, ensure compliance with anti-corruption policy and NRC procedures and guidelines
  • Participate in and help develop innovative approaches to preventing corruption, wrong practices and breaches.
  • Work with colleagues to incorporate best practice into risk and control activities
  • To assist in monitoring the implementation of SSD system, conducting regular spot checks and
  • provide frequent report and feedback.
  • Support the program and finance teams in audit preparation
  • Monitor all the feedback received through FHM and ensure that each individual received feedback within the timeline envisaged by relevant procedures. 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant university field (audit, finance, accounting, business administration).
  • Minimum 2 -3 years of working on issues such as audit, accounting, compliance, business administration).
  • At least 1-year experience in an INGO preferably in an emergency or post-conflict setting
  • A certificate of CIA, CPA will be preferable.
  • Sufficient experience in control and quality management.
  • Specific audit and/ or investigation experienced an advantage.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently on own initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training, mentoring and other formal and non-formal methods
  • High level English and Arabic language proficiency (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Excellent English report writing skills
  • Analytic and computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Knowledge of NGO procurement, HR, Security and Finance procedures
  • Knowledge of NGO operations, programming and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector
  • Systematic mind-set, attention to detail and capability of structuring a large amount of information in an easy accessible way.

We can offer
Contract Period: 4 months contract, with possibility to extend based on the budget availability and performance. 
Salary/Benefits: According to NRC's salary scale and terms and conditions. 
Duty Station: Damascus
