Eligibility criteria

Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Human Resources Regional Specialist, the National Youth Volunteer will:

Summary of Key Functions:

  1. Full compliance of HR processes and records with UNOPS rules, regulations, policies and strategies.
  2. Support with the management and update LCR RD Human Resources site on the intranet and the Shared Drives on Google Drive
  3. LCR focal point for the Linkedin Recruiter Seat, is responsible to support talent outreach activities, mainly with active search of candidates for various positions in the LCR region, and helping LCR HR focal points with their Linkedin projects by inviting potential candidates.
  4. Contributes the organization of regional training activities as needed

  1. Implements HR services focusing on achievement of the following results:
  • Support with the recruitment processes under the LCR RD Office implementation, including creating the vacancies in GPRS, supporting the screening long and short lists, administering written assessments tests, participating in panel interviews, and presenting cases to the review body
  • Proactive customer service to personnel alerting the supervisor of any problems or delays in the stages of the recruitment process.
  • Support the preparation of letters of intent and related contract documentation, including creating the contract in UNOPS ERP (OneUNOPS).
  • Update and maintenance of information in recruitment systems to allow accurate statistical reporting.
  • Support the preparation of HR reports and statistical data using various data sources and systems.
  • Review of supporting documentation for processing various HR actions
  • Support the monitoring and completion of various LCR RD HR tasks and activities
  • Maintenance of LCR ORD personnel files for all personnel and monitors compliance of personnel files by other LCR offices
  • Contributes in the implementation of regional HR projects

  1. Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing, focusing on achievement of the following results:
  • Participation in the trainings for the operations/ projects on HR.
  • Contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
  • Support with the standardization of agendas and induction material and HR regional standard procedures (SOP)
  • Any other related HR tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
  • Provide annual and end of assignment self- reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
  • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
  • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Technical/Vocational diploma Education - Additional Comments:
  • Technical or University level education equivalent to bachelor´s degree on Administration, Psychology or other fields related to the job functions.
  • Master´s degree will be an asset
Required experience: 12 Months Experience remark:
  • One to two years of relevant HR experience performing generalist functions, preferably in large national or international organizations.
  • Experience in talent attraction functions will be a distinct advantage.
Language skills:
  • Spanish(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge
Area of expertise: Human resources management and development Area of expertise details:
  • One to two years of relevant HR experience performing generalist functions, preferably in large national or international organizations.
  • Experience in talent attraction functions will be a distinct advantage.
  • Microsoft Office package domain is required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Gsuit will be a distinct advantage
  • Restlessness to learn and develop in a diverse and multicultural environment
  • Strong analytical skills and developed internet search skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish is require. Good Working level of English is required, minimum at an intermediate level;
