Overview

The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries, while strengthening the capabilities of governments and the private sector in those countries to create and sustain high-quality health systems that can succeed without our assistance. Despite significant progress in the global HIV response, new HIV infections are not declining fast enough to reach epidemic control by 2030. Scaling access to safe, effective prevention options that meet the needs of those at risk of HIV infection is essential to reaching epidemic control. However, individual and systemic barriers persist, limiting the impact of effective HIV prevention interventions.

CHAI is supporting the Zimbabwe Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) to build resilient and responsive health systems that will catalyse the scale-up and transition to sustainable implementation of combination HIV prevention interventions.

The Analyst, HIV Prevention will support the following efforts within this grant to:

  • Strengthen HIV-prevention program integration, strategically leveraging lessons from the coordination, management, and implementation of the Voluntary Male Medical Circumcision (VMMC) program; and
  • Document and share best practices from the implementation and transition of VMMC programs and the integration of combination HIV-prevention programs with national, regional, and global stakeholders

The Analyst will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, from quantitative and qualitative analysis to collaborating with stakeholders. We are seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented, entrepreneurial individual with outstanding written communication skills. CHAI places great value on relevant personal qualities: resourcefulness, humility, responsibility, tenacity, independence, energy, and work ethic. The position may require 20-30% in-country travel. The Analyst will be based in Harare, Zimbabwe, and will report to the Associate, HIV Prevention.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative data collection and data analysis exercises as part of knowledge discovery to inform combination HIV prevention intervention scale-up;
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop dissemination materials, including presentations and manuscripts, progress reports, and other knowledge products to share successes, opportunities and challenges met during programme implementation;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key governmental stakeholders as well as other non-governmental partners to facilitate effective collaboration;
  • Support integration of HIV prevention best practices into MOHCC protocols, job descriptions as relevant, so that these are embedded within the relevant SOP/TOR/processes;
  • Support analyses of policy and regulatory landscape to make recommendations and support any policy revisions that may be required to ensure the smooth implementation of HIV prevention interventions;
  • Provide input into relevant technical documents to support the introduction and scale-up of innovations within HIV prevention;
  • Provide capacity-building support to MOHCC stakeholders to sustain, institutionalize and carry out key combination HIV prevention functions;
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social or Health Sciences, or other related field and 1 year work experience in demanding, results-oriented environments in the public and/or private sector
  • A qualification or training in Science Communication will be an added advantage
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills, and ability to use data to inform program development and strategy and to present results in both narrative and graphic form
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and tactfully to a variety of audiences
