The East African Refugee Goat Project is a collaboration between IRC in Salt Lake City and three East African refugee groups to raise goats for food, income generation, and youth education. The Goat Project’s annual Refugee Youth 4-H Goat Club provides an opportunity for refugee youth to raise a young goat over the summer while engaging in learning activities that build confidence and curiosity.

SCOPE OF INTERN WORK: The Youth 4-H Intern will join the IRC’s East African Refugee Goat Project to coordinate its summer 4-H program for refugee youth. The intern will use available resources to teach an online 4-H curriculum focusing on leadership, teamwork, and learning skills. The intern will also assist youth club members with activities related to their goat husbandry project such as goat nutrition and showmanship. The internship will culminate in August with a livestock competition in which club members will showcase their skills and knowledge.

COMMITMENT: May 3rd – August 20th 2021, 15-20 hours per week. This internship is part remote, part in-person.
