Scope of Work:

The IRC is seeking an editor/writing coach who can provide guidance and support to individual team members as they develop written communications products (blog pieces, articles, grant proposals, etc.) for the Airbel Impact Lab’s Middle East Hub. This person will be available upon request to coach individual team members as they think of ideas in line with influence goals, write and/or otherwise develop drafts, and create high-quality, impactful final products. In some cases, the work will involve coaching related to English language writing, while in other cases the work will be more focused on the strength, structure and clarity of arguments. This person will be available for coaching sessions, in-line editing and other support. In addition, this person will offer customized communications-related lessons once every two months to the Hub; these lessons will provide a continuous learning opportunity that aims at strengthening writing skills, and effectively communicating messages to particular audiences and outlets.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • Provide 3 1:1 coaching sessions per communications output (a total of 15 sessions for 5 team members over 4 months) to Hub team members as they conceptualize, develop and finalize communications products.
  • In consultation with the hub team, select topics to be delivered bi-monthly over one year (6 lessons over the course of 12 months) and then deliver the first two lessons bi-monthly (over the 4 month period).
  • Review the Hub’s communications product development process and provide feedback on its workability as well as suggestions on how to make it more efficient and streamlined.
  • Participate in 2 to 3 strategy meetings to observe topic development process.Provide feedback on how to better structure such meetings to be more efficient and streamlined.
