Assistant for Architecture

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the UNODC’s Technical Assistant for Judicial Architecture, the Assistant for Architecture will:

  • Travel to collaborate on measured and photographic surveys, collecting building data accurately;
  • Produce architectural drawings (plans, elevations, sections, etc);
  • Produce architectural diagrams, maps, schemes and infographics;
  • Liaise with and report to UNODC Architecture supervisor on visual design work related to the project;
  • Liaise with the Assistant for Graphic Design to ensure architectural design material follows graphic design concept and templates;
  • Assist the Architecture supervisor in developing drawing templates and reviewing final layouts and graphic material;
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture;
  • Postgraduate degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, Graphic Design or related areas will be considered an asset.
Required experience: 24 Months Experience remark:
  • 2 years of experience working with measured surveys and architectural drawings and graphics;
  • Experience with architectural measured surveys and photographic surveys;
  • Experience with producing architectural graphics, charts, maps and schemes;
  • Experience with architectural presentations from starting phase to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes;
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, norms and Technical Standards in the field of architecture.
  • Experience with producing design layouts will be an asset;
  • Academic and/or professional experience in architecture in a multicultural environment will be an asset;
  • Work experience with Justice, Human Rights, Prison System, Public Safety or related areas will be considered an asset;
  • Work experience on projects aimed at delivering social impact will be an asset;
Language skills:
  • Portuguese(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • English(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge
Area of expertise: Architecture and urban planning, Rule of law, judicial and national legal system reform, Human rights Area of expertise details:
  • Mastery of Adobe-Illustrator and good knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe In-Design;
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Autocad and Google Sketch-Up softwares;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners and authorities at different levels;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.
