Background

UNDP is the leading United Nations organization fighting to end the injustice of poverty, inequality, and climate change. UNDP Pacific office in Fiji is part of the 177 -country office UNDP network which provides regional and country support to 10 countries including Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu and regional support to 5 countries.

Under the direct supervision of the Human Resources, Procurement and Finance Analyst, the Three(3) Interns will provide administrative support in Procurement, Finance and ICT working closely with colleagues in Fiji and other Pacific Island Countries.

Duties and Responsibilities

The internship placement is for a duration of 6 months, with two main objectives;

  • Contribute to the work deliverable(s) of UNDP Fiji in a supportive role and by providing necessary assistance to the operation staff.
  • Enhance skills sets, gain work experience, training, and development for the intern.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support in arrangement of Archives, E-fillings and uploading of documents and;
  • Assist in maintenance of proper filing, disposal of identified documents i.e. projects, operations Finance, Procurement, and HR
  • Support procuring of goods & services, clearing  and labelling of office files
  • Support finance unit in uploading finance documents, vendor reconciliations, cost recovery billings;
  • Provide technical assistance and support to ICT team.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in areas of Accounting, Finance, ICT, Logistics, Economics, Management or related field.;
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent);
  • Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Experience:

  • Work experience is not a requirement for the internship
  • Knowledge of the local environment is a key requirement

Language:

  • Proficiency in English;

General Internships Terms & Conditions:

  • The Internship programme is governed by the UNDP Internship policy framework & rules.
  • Under the new revised UNDP internship policy, UNDP will provide a modest monthly internship stipend to its interns.
  • UNDP interns accrue leave at a rate of 1.5 days per month;
  • Selected Interns must be able to share proof of education enrolment and/ or graduation, medical/ health and life/accident insurance, valid for the location in which the internship will be carried out and be able to provide insurance documentary proof at the time of their selection;
  • There is no expectation of employment at the end of these internships.
  • UNDP is not responsible for any claims by an intern or third party in the case of loss or damage to property or death or personal injury as a result of actions or omissions on the part of the intern during the internship period.

 Working conditions:

  • During the internship session, interns will be provided with an office working space and computer access.
