Description of task

Given the expanding role of the UNICEF’s education section, to reach out to the most vulnerable and excluded children of Tanzania, through the out of school children programme under (EAC on pipeline), disability programme (with the need to conduct a survey on the learning needs of children with disability, and assessment of the sub nation support for the learning of children with disabilities), the increasing demand for gender and adolescent programming as well as the response to emergency in education, the UNV will work to provide technical support and assistance in facilitating implementation o the output 2 activities under the leadership of the UNICEF Chief of Education, the UNICEF Education Specialist and in support of the Government. The UNV will support, the day to day performance of the section especially in output 2, with the focus on all activities related to the Integrated Programme for Out of School Adolescents (IPOSA) and other out of school children programmes, will also work with the education specialist on issues of logistics e.g. transfer of funds to education partners and ensuring timely liquidation. The UNV will also work collaboratively with the government ministries (MOEST, PORALG) and regional and local government authorities

Overall the successful candidate will support the education section in the implementation of inclusive basic education activities in consultation with the Chief of Education and Education Specialist in Dar Es Salaam Office. The UNV will have the following specific tasks:

  1. Participate in dialogue meeting with implementing partners (both government and non-government partners).
  1. Coordinate working arrangements in strengthening the out of school children pro-gramme including the sector-wide coordination of educational issues
  1. Provide both technical and financial support at the decentralized level working’ closely with PORALG and LGAs
  1. Manage and monitor DCTs for both central government and PORALG
  1. Support day to day follow up of the implementation of IPOSA, digital learning and adolescent programming.
  1. Participate in report review and resources mobilization including writing of fundable research proposals
  1. Spot challenges facing various implementation units at MOEST and PORALG and propose solutions.
  1. Support Monitoring and Evaluation within the section and preparation of various implementation reports including quarterly and annual progress reports.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:

University Degree in Education, adolescent’s development, disability, Social Sciences, Psychology, or other relevant to international development/social science field related to technical field is required.

Required experience: 24 Months Experience remark:

Two (2) years progressively, responsible professional work experience at national and international levels in programme planning and management in related field with em-phasis on Education, Education in Emergencies and integrated early childhood devel-opment programmes

Language skills:
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
