Background: 
Since 1999, the IRC has developed partnerships with New York City public schools, community-based organizations and local colleges and universities to support the positive development of refugee youth and their communities in New York City.  The Education and Learning Program provides year round programming working directly with refugee youth, their parents and families, and their schools. 

Scope of Work: 
The Newcomer Youth Summer Academy (NYSA) is a six-week program focusing on preparing newly arrived refugee youth to succeed at their grade level in the New York City public school system. Up to 130 students from ages 5 – 21 from over 20 countries will participate in academic, creative arts, physical education, and life skills classes. Field Trips are held on Fridays. 

Each Newcomer Youth Summer Academy Monitoring and Evaluation Intern will implement key aspects of the RYSA M&E plan monitoring and evaluation tools, including data collection, analysis, and presentation. One M&E Intern will focus on NYSA’s School Readiness assessments, demographics, and attendance data. The other M&E Intern will focus and student feedback mechanisms, academic assessments and the parent survey. The interns will write up and present data at the program’s mid-point and post-program.   

Essential Job Functions: 
Preparing M&E tools for implementation 
Implementation of M&E activities, including data entry 
Managing and analyzing program generated data 
Writing up results of monitoring and evaluation activities 
Completing a final report and presentation on NYSA M&E for 2020 
Other related duties as assigned
