Visual Global Branding Advisor

SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation we help children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for children’s rights. We work in 136 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year.

 

Mission

The mission of the Communications and Brand team is to build a strong global brand with local relevance by providing clear brand guidelines and core brand assets (stories, photos, videos) as well as a platform for collaboration and sharing. We leverage SOS Children’s Villages international media channels and international media relations to build our brand and to position SOS Children´s Villages on a global scale

The Visual Brand Advisor proactively develops and builds the SOS Children’s Villages brand. He/she leads the visual brand identity development, development of core brand assets and leads the visual brand taskforces. The visual brand advisor proactively contributes to the global development, monitors the usage and continuously improves, taking both internal and external factors into account. He/She is the chairman of the task forces working ensuring collaboration between the GSC and the members in the functional area of brand management. The core responsibility of this person is to establish a full-scale system for global branding with a global brand framework and with local implementations.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

Be a brand custodian for the Federation:

  • Represent the refreshed brand in all interactions with colleagues
  • Contributing to be a strong Global Brand Team, recognized for being approachable and capable of building strong brands. Having an open and flexible mindset to work together with the Global Brand team to do whatever task is needed to strengthen our performance and deliver on our strategic plan.
  • Leading and being the chairman of the network of brand colleagues
  • Overviewing the overall visual brand identity budget

Developing the visual brand identity:

  • Lead the development and monitoring usage of the visual style guide
  • Lead the development of a diverse range of brand assets
  • Lead the development of Icons and Illustrations
  • Co-lead the picture and video style guide
  • Continuously improve visual user guides and brand assets

Increase the collaboration between C&B visual experts:

  • Lead the diverse visual taskforces
  • Engage via the global Brand newsletter and Collaboration Platform
  • Increase visibility of graphic designs done in the Federation

Dissemination of the visual brand identity:

  • Develop and lead the development of the Brand Portal
  • Develop and lead visual brand identity training for the global C&B colleagues
  • Develop (digital tools) to make the new visual style available (via Mediabox/ Collaboration Platform)
  • Encourage GSC and Member Associations to use the new visual style
  • Represent the global branding team in working groups related to the visual brand identity, ensuring alignment with brand user guides
  • Support as an expert the visual projects of the Federation
  • Supports the implementation of regional and global campaigns.

Establishing and maintaining an effective relationship with pool of agencies and freelancers:

  • Build and maintain the visual freelancer pool
  • Build and maintain the relationship with key agencies
  • Assure our projects are run according to the procurement rules and within budget

 

Requirements
  • University degree in Communications or Marketing; or other relevant degree combined with substantive relevant experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience in Brand communication, marketing communications and/or graphic design.
  • Strong understanding of brand development & principles as well as communications & brand strategy
  • Strategic thinking (related to marketing and brand) and innovative approach
  • Exceptional networking and relationship management skills by acting as a patient advisor capable of helping others understand and adopt brand-aligned styles
  • Project management skills and /or experience
  • Visual design expertise
  • Digital savvy (website, social media and digital tools)
  • Basic graphic skills
  • Team and purpose commitment
  • Good planning and organizing skills
  • Applicants must hold a valid Austrian working permit or be eligible to work within the EU
