Overview of position
Under the overall direct supervision of the Logistics Assistant in Kabul  and the overall supervision of the Procurement/ Logistics Officer; and, in collaboration with relevant units at IOM Office in Kabul and the Sub Offices in the provinces, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for efficient and effective functionality of office and guest houses.
Role objectives
  • Recommend preventive and major maintenance works to the Logistics Assistant and Procurement/Logistics Officer.
  • Coordinates and monitor maintenance repair and construction work conducted by service providers at IOM premises.
  • Monitors the septic tanks in the compound and recommend disposal schedule.
  • Manage and directly supervise a team of maintenance and provide and /or support staff training and orientation as required
  • Regularly inspect office premises and non-IT related assets and determine the repairs/maintenance works needed to be done. Submit report and recommendation on the repair/maintenance works to the Logistics Assistant and Procurement/Logistics Officer.
  • Performs renovation/maintenance works on office premises (civil works, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, etc.)
  • Implements preventive maintenance and minor trouble shooting works on non-IT related assets – e.g., generator, water pumps, heaters, air conditioning units, etc. recommends to the Logistics/Procurement Officer, major maintenance/repair works needed to be done of non-IT related assets.
  • Monitor Fuel Storage.
  • Coordinate with the Logistics Assistant to ensure availability of fuel for all generators and to monitor the fuel consumption of the units.
  • Monitor the septic tanks level.
  • Coordinate with the Logistics Assistant for the disposal of sewage in the septic tanks.
  • Coordinate with Assets and Inventory Assistant in preparing purchase requests for maintenance spare parts and consumables. Prepare and submit utilization report the Logistics/Procurement Officer.
  • Ensure supply of water in the compound by regularly checking water pumps and tanks.
  • Accountable for efficient and effective functionality of office and guest house premises.
  • Directly oversees the work of the maintenance Assistant.
  • Any other duty within the incumbent’s capabilities as assigned by the Logistics/Procurement Officer.
  • Respond to emergency calls for maintenance and repairs
  • Perform other related duties as required

Further information
  • Completion of secondary school education
  • At least two (2) or more years of work experience in maintenance and general building fields of activity.
  • Experienced in general building operation and maintenance activities.
  • Experienced in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools) is a plus.
  • Experience preferred in working with International Organizations/Diplomatic Mission.
VI. Languages:
  • English- Fluency is required
  • Dari – Fluency is required
