CHAI South Africa’s HIV Prevention Program:

 

The CHAI-SA HIV Prevention program supports the National Department of Health (NDoH) to ensure that performance of the HIV prevention efforts are conducted and monitored efficiently and effectively. This includes a national campaign that specifically aims to support adolescent girls and young women (AGYW). This is done through the provision of technical assistance in the implementation of the national combination HIV prevention policy, guidelines, and operational plan, development of strategic documents and tools, including training and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to support critical management systems and to galvanize key stakeholders coordination.

 

CHAI is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented individual with strong quantitative and analytical skills to support with the implementation of NDoH HIV prevention program scale up. Candidates must have excellent communication and writing skills, be able to function independently, be extremely self-motivated and have a strong commitment to excellence. The Analyst will provide support to the NDoH both strategically and analytically in the delivery of the program.

 

The position may require up to 40% of travel as determined by the needs of the project. The Analyst will be based in Pretoria and will report to the HIV Prevention Program Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Support the monitoring of combination prevention program performance and outcomes, starting with PrEP, including monthly data collection, analysis, and reporting/presentation internally, to government and other partners, and donors.
  • Analysis and quantification of implementation trends by districts and provinces.
  • Conducting routine field supervision visits, and support the review and facilitation of M&E trainings and engagements
  • Support NDoH with implementation and monitoring of the National rollout of oral PrEP
  • Support the documentation and dissemination of lessons learnt from the scale up of oral PrEP
  • Support NDoH and key stakeholders in the development and review of strategic documents including implementation plans, strategy documents and policy and guidelines.
  • Support the development of quarterly and monthly donor reports and ensure the routine reports are delivered on time.
  • Developing and maintaining program databases and dashboards for performance monitoring and evaluation;
  • Support quarterly program evaluation to improve program implementation and inform scale-up efforts. Represent the program in meetings and workshops.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across the country and abroad when the need arises.
  • Perform other tasks as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Health, Financial management, or related subjects;
  • Minimum of 1-2 years professional experience.

Required Skills:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including attention to detail and advanced technical proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, be effective in high-pressure situations and adapt to fast-paced and changing environments with a strong commitment to excellence, both internally and externally, and with limited structural support;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex projects and solve challenging problems with limited structural or operational support;
  • Strategically minded, able to think creatively around long-term program objectives and the detailed steps necessary to achieve these goals;
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills;
  • Excellent verbal, visual and written communication skills;
  • English language fluency, both written and verbal.
