Associate Director, Employee Engagement and Workplace Giving

The Associate Director will lead IRC’s global workplace giving and employee engagement with a focus on mobilizing additional financial and non-financial but quantifiable support with corporations, foundations, and international philanthropists globally through the cultivation of audiences. This position will work closely with our high-value fundraisers to build and implement several support strategies that maximize private institutional and individual engagement with the IRC through workplace giving and employee engagement.

The Associate Director will build off the IRC’s growth of workplace giving and bring it to new heights. They will do this by scaling existing opportunities, introducing measurable reporting mechanisms into the overarching strategy, and by crafting a new communications plan and relevant assets to cultivate and sustain employee and associate partners and donors. This role will lead on results-oriented thinking and solutions for the broader high value fundraising teams to maximize all employee engagement relationships and opportunities to create innovative, high-yield private sector collaboration.

Responsible for managing one team member, this role will be pivotal in ensuring the success of the teams’ outcomes for business development and client management strategies, contributing towards financial and non-financial objectives.

Major Responsibilities:

•Lead on the development of IRC’s global workplace giving and employee engagement strategy with corporations, foundations, and where applicable, individual philanthropists and/or membership-based institutions globally; identifying growth potential, a proactive roadmap and activities to generate primarily financial returns for the organization.

•Lead the development of a suite of collaterals that would better enable the fundraising teams to pursue such opportunities in a comprehensive, visually-appealing and competitive manner;

•Act as a thought-partner to high-value fundraisers on the identification and pursuit of such opportunities as part of a larger partnerships strategy; lead on this workplace-giving engagement directly where appropriate.

•Produce reports, analysis, trends-mapping that would enable the leadership to make informed decisions on the global workplace giving strategy and subsequent execution for the IRC at large.

•Together with the Gift-in-Kind team, ensure that such opportunities and engagement modalities are recognized and recorded by the organization, in a way that truly reflects the financial investment that such partners make to the IRC in the totality of their engagement.

•Provide multifaceted and effective practical support and thought leadership across the team in identifying, executing and managing strategies for private sector partnerships that contribute to revenue targets and that are delivered through a varied portfolio of partnership models, including philanthropy, CSR, marketing and cause-linked partnerships, employee engagement as well as relationships based in the convergence of business and humanitarian interests and objectives.

•Manage and mentor a team member, supporting them by participating in ongoing performance monitoring, performance appraisals and professional development plans.

•Monitor and analyze corporate partnership trends, including attendance at sectoral events and conferences, so that market opportunities may be capitalized on.

Job Requirements:

•Approximately 7 years’ experience in a non-profit and private sector partnership setting, including new business and client management experience;

•Well-developed knowledge of private sector (corporations, foundations and individual philanthropy) approaches to NGO/humanitarian partnerships;

•Direct and extensive experience with fundraising and broader engagement in the workplace giving sector; global experience would be a major plus;

•Experience with developing employee engagement and volunteerism strategies that are quantifiable and measurable;

•Experience meeting ambitious revenue goals, as well as participating in financial projections, reporting, and scenario planning;

•Proven ability to maintain positive, collaborative, and productive relationships with staff at all levels, and to successfully manage a team;

•Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills;

•Good judgment in maintaining confidentiality of donor information;

•Ability to translate an organization’s strategy and objectives into operational delivery and respond quickly to changes in short-term priorities;

•Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to devise creative solutions to sophisticated problems and issues;

•Flexible with the ability to comfortably navigate unchartered territory with unexpected challenges;

•Experience of working with quantitative and qualitative data sets, with ability to summarize and communicate key points and assumptions from the information;

•Strong digital literacy, including strong proficiency in Microsoft office and knowledge of Salesforce.

•Passion for the IRC’s mission and dedication to private sector partnerships.

•Knowledge and interest in emerging concepts and practices in the field of strategic philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, and public-private partnerships.
