Reporting Lines

He/ She the Specialist Coordinator of the FAO / RLC Communicators Network will be under the direct supervision of the Communication Officer.

Technical Focus

He/ She will be responsible for coordinating the Regional Communicators Network in Latin America and the Caribbean, and help designing and implementing the Communications Strategy. The tasks will include supporting the hiring processes, monitor the daily work of the national and project´s communicators, managing the media reports, and support the dissemination of flagship FAO publications in the region's media.

  • Preparation and updating of the list of communicators in the region, including countries and projects.
  • Preparation of a bulletin FAO in the Media
  • Lead a weekly videoconference with communicators from Latin America and with the Caribbean (separately).
  • Update the list of main media (top level) by country.
  • 1 report of FAO officials media appearances at the regional level
  • Performance evaluation of Communicators Network and individual communicators
  • Induction of new communicators in the region
  • Dissemination of regional publications

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Keep up-to-date and follow up the list of all communicators from Latin America and the Caribbean, including the communicators of country and projects.

  • Coordinate and follow up on the daily work of communicators from Latin American and Caribbean countries to strengthen the visibility of national projects in FAO's media and internal channels. This includes developing and updating once a year the list of relevant means of each country, in coordination with the communicators of the Region.

  • Coordinate reporting management in national and international media and support communicators in interviews and notes at the national level.

  • Participate in the development of the Regional Communication Strategy and coordinate with country offices the development of the Nations Communication Plans, contributing to their adjustment with it.

  • In coordination with the Head of Communications, develop and maintain a performance assessment system of the Communicator Network. This includes the preparation and shipment of FAO in media on a weekly basis.

  • Support the dissemination of FAO's assigned publications in media in the region, including participation in content areas. Perform any other tasks assigned by the RLC Head of Communications.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • Professional title of Journalist. Desirable a Master's degree or post-graduate studies in management or management areas.
  • 3 years of experience in the design of strategic plans related to communication and visibility, with special emphasis on measuring results.
  • At least two years of media experience.
  • Native Spanish language professed and fluent English language (level B)
  • National of Chile or resident in the country with a regular work permit.

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Experience in coordination of communication teams
  • Desirable experience of at least 2 years in development programs, projects, or institutions.
  • Experience in content management for media and outreach campaigns. (at least 1 year)
  • Ability to work as a team, orientation to crisis resolution and obtain results.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Excellent writing and spelling.
  • MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Management of social networks and user-level information platforms
