Background
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of Programme Specialist, the intern is expected to undertake the following:
- Assist in the development and coordination of Country Office materials for raising awareness and strengthening advocacy in any of the above thematic areas;
- Support programme with research and analysis related to specific thematic areas;
- Assist in collecting data on a regular basis to measure achievement against the performance indicators
- Draft communications pieces related to the specified portfolio;
- Draft stories and news items for UN Women’s social media, collecting photos and videos where necessary;
- Support development and implementation of various activities and tasks under the framework of the following thematic areas GBG/EVAW/WEE/Communications/M&E, Operations.

Required Skills and Experience
Applicants to the United Nations internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
- University studies in one of the following disciplines: Gender and development, Social Sciences or other relevant discipline based on the specific thematic area being applied for
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation, or Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are require
