Scope of Volunteer Work: The Career Development Program helps newcomers to the US build professional development skills and networks to help them achieve long-term career goals. Currently, The Career Development Program primarily consists of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program, which supports low-income individuals and recipients of public benefits with individualized career planning, job application support, and accessing trainings/education.
Location: Remote - Working with the IRC in Seattle.
Time commitment: Minimum 15 hours/week during IRC office hours (9am-5pm PST), 2-3 days/week. Regular schedule required. 3 month commitment. Position begins June 16th, 2020.
Essential position functions:
•Assist with job search and help clients prepare and submit job applications
•Organize and facilitate mock interviews
•Help clients create or update LinkedIn profiles and instruct on LinkedIn usage
•Schedule and lead remote career programs workshops on topics including workplace communication, emails, resumes, cover letters, etc.
•Record case notes relating to career development/employment searches by job seekers
•Other miscellaneous tasks may be assigned
