IRC's External Relations (ER) department is responsible for the global delivery of private sector resources and plays a meaningful role in the creation of IRC’s brand, awareness and support for its advocacy goals.

Job Overview:

The Associate Director, Acquisition and Sustainer Growth will develop a vision and lead strategies to establish and grow IRC’s face-to-face and canvassing initiatives (including door-to-door, street, private site and traveling teams) in the United States. Reporting to the Director of Supporter Acquisition, s/he will be responsible for the rapid growth of the IRC’s USA supporter acquisition via face-to-face channels and drive sustainer acquisition goals, which will be a critical bedrock to our strategic growth.

This role will work closely with colleagues in the Mass Marketing USA team, as well as colleagues in Global Markets, IT, Analytics and Communications to evolve IRC’s face-to-face acquisition and sustainer cultivation programs.

Major Responsibilities:

1.Lead the strategy, implementation and analysis of activities to support IRC’s face-to-face sustainer acquisition programs in the United States, including all face-to-face and canvassing initiatives.

2.Translate strategies into detailed business proposals to include timelines, market selection, offers, audience segmentation, test plans and projected performance expectation.

3.Develop and execute annual and multi-year strategies to drive face-to-face program growth and market expansion, ensuring sustainer acquisition, retention, and cultivation plans are executed efficiently, accurately, and with consideration for donor quality and lifetime value.

4.Collaborate with Marketing Technology colleagues to assess and implement improvements to existing backend processes and procedures, including those to streamline payment processing options and to support third-party vendors and agencies.

5.Analyze and report on agency and/or in-house team performance, progress to goals and overall face-to-face program effectiveness; refine and adapt strategies as needed based on findings and opportunities to optimize.

6.Collaborate cross-functionally with colleagues to ensure quality and successful development and production of creative assets and related marketing collateral to support face-to-face programs, and to ensure maximum retention of F2F-acquired donors.

7.Collaborate with face-to-face leads in other IRC markets (e.g., Germany, Sweden, South Korea) to share recommended practices across markets.

8.Manage external agencies hired to support projects related to face-to-face fundraising in the United States; coordinate approach and implementation of testing as needed with external suppliers and agencies.

9.Keep up to date with face-to-face fundraising practices and share ideas for testing, optimization opportunities and improvements where possible.

10.Support the Director of Supporter Acquisition, Mass Marketing USA in the development of annual budget forecast, monthly projections and any expenses related to face-to-face programs.

 

 

 

Job Qualifications:

Education:

Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience.

Work Experience:

•8+ years of work experience in modern high-performance marketing, with consistent track record of income growth

•Approximately 5 years of experience managing and growing a successful face-to-face fundraising program at a nonprofit organization or consultancy.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

•Well developed collaboration skills to work successfully with cross-functional teams; demonstrated ability to lead projects that involve multiple departments, consultants and external vendors or agencies.

•Shown ability to use analytics to advise and influence decision-making.

•Ability to identify unmet market needs and create/execute marketing strategies.

•Understanding of the US fundraising marketplace.

•Proven success in direct-response marketing.

•Meticulous and a critical thinker, able to ask probing clear questions and drive toward solutions quickly.

•Predisposition toward simple and practical solutions.

•Strong interpersonal skills, collegial and collaborative, high energy, good humored and creative leader.

•Strong resilience and change management skills – with experience of leading a rapid growth program, and the challenges that come with rapid growth.

•Excellent written and verbal communication.

Working Environment: This role requires working remotely full or part-time (i.e., telecommuting) with some travel to visit face-to-face markets and teams as needed.
