Organizational Setting
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is the specialized Agency of the United Nations (UN) leading international efforts to defeat hunger. The Partnerships and UN Collaboration Division (PSU) is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the identification, strengthening and stewardship of strategic partnerships with non-state actors and UN entities, including with the other Rome-based agencies, parliamentarians, civil society, academia and research institutions, family farmers' and indigenous peoples' organizations in support of FAO's objectives and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). PSU has the lead responsibility for the implementation of the Principles for Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems (CFS-RAI), the UN Decade of Family Farming (2019-2028), the FAO Policy on Indigenous People and the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact. PSU supports the Food Coalition. The position is in direct support of the Food Coalition proposed by the Government of Italy and led by FAO. Specifically, under project GCP/GLO/410/MUL, the position will support the facilitation of a multistakeholder global alliance and a network of networks for a unified global action in response to COVID-19.

Reporting Lines
The Partnerships Officer reports to the Director, PSU, with guidance from the Deputy Director-General, Partnerships and Outreach Stream.
Technical Focus
Contribute to the development and strengthening of partnerships, alliances and networks in support of the Food Coalition.
Key Results
Support the development of partnerships in headquarters (HQ) and Decentralized Offices (DOs) in support of the strategic objectives of the Organization.
Key Functions
• Identifies, assesses and develops, with the appropriate technical divisions, possible collaborations and partnerships with private sector entities for the fulfilment of the Strategic Objectives, both at HQ and decentralized levels;
• Provides guidance and support to staff at HQ and in DOs on the use of corporate requirements related to partnerships with the private sector;
• Elaborates an annual work plan with the priorities and main activities of private sector entities, which will be aligned with FAO's Strategic Objectives and programmes;
• Coordinates and monitors all operations and activities related to the Multi-Donor Trust Fund in support of mobilization of resources from the private sector;
• Establishes links with different FAO entities and governing bodies, including the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) and other relevant regional and national fora on policy discussions to strengthen partnerships with private sector entities;
• Identifies and develops fundraising proposals in collaboration with key stakeholders both at HQ and DOs in support of FAO's strategic objectives and country programming frameworks;
• Develops tools for capacity building among staff in HQ and DOs to strengthen FAO's capacity of partnering with the private sector;
• Contributes to the elaboration and execution of the Monitoring and Evaluation system of FAO's partnerships;
• Participates in multidisciplinary teams, and/or leads working groups/teams collaborates with other departments and agencies on work groups and committees and promotes best practices.
Specific Functions
• Identifies, assesses and develops, with the appropriate technical divisions, possible collaborations and partnerships in support of the Food Coalition;
• Supports the definition of annual work plans with the priorities and main activities for the Food Coalition aligned with FAO's overall Covid-19 response, including post-pandemic;
• Supports, coordinates and monitors all operations and activities related to the Multi-Donor Trust Fund (GCP/GLO/410/MUL) and associated projects in support of mobilization of resources for the Food Coalition;
• Contributes to the elaboration and execution of a Roster of Experts/Calls for Experts and develops fundraising proposals in collaboration with key stakeholders both at HQ and DOs for the Food Coalition;
• Contributes to the organization and delivery of Food Coalition dialogue and knowledge exchange events at global, regional and national levels;
• Ensures linkages between the Food Coalition and the FAO-Nobel Alliance for Food Security and Peace;
• Supports the monitoring and evaluation of the Food Coalition portfolio and periodic reporting, both internally and for Members;
• Participates in multidisciplinary teams and collaborates with other divisions and agencies on work related to the Food Coalition and FAO's overall Covid-19 response;
• Supports the link between the Food Coalition and the G20;
• Supports Senior Management's outreach and advocacy efforts related to the Food Coalition; and
• Represents the Organization at external and interagency meetings as required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• Advanced university degree in international relations, social sciences, economics, agricultural sciences or any other discipline relevant to the work of the Organization;
• Five years of relevant experience in management and facilitation of networks and alliances, including advocacy and outreach in governmental institutions or international organizations including the organization of international high-level events/summits;
• Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).

• Demonstrated experience in drafting reports in English;
• Extent and relevance of experience with Nobel Peace Laureates is considered an asset.
