The IRC is building upon its existing culturally responsive, comprehensive case management programming to implement the Kansas Trauma Adapted Family Connections (KTAFC) project. TAFC is a low-barrier, poverty and trauma-mitigation intervention that aims to prevent youth from engaging in high-risk behaviors and to help families achieve and maintain stability. This is achieved by increasing caregiver functioning, positive parenting practices, social supports and services, and strengthening the overall family unit.

In collaboration with the TAFC practitioners, the Caseworker provides direct services to participants enrolled in KFCR Program by providing resources and referrals and aiding in systems navigation.Services are provided to families from various backgrounds, and clientele may be comprised of individuals from different national and ethnic backgrounds, many of whom do not speak English.Services are provided in a variety of settings including in-home, in the community, and in the office. This position is expected to engage in stakeholder capacity-building activities as IRC works to educate and strengthen mainstream providers in the needs of individuals, families, and communities who are highly burdened and marginalized by language and culture.

Responsibilities:

•In coordination with TA-FC practitioners, provide case management services, identify resources and provide referrals that meet client needs.

•Aid clients in systems navigation; provide the support and capacity building necessary for client success in accessing goods/services.

•Provide transportation for clients to appointments as needed.

•Coordinate interpretation services as needed to appropriately engage clients in services.

•Maintain case files and the Evidence and Outcomes (ETO) database entries to ensure files are accurate, up-to-date and complete.

•Complete required documentation, reports, and data entry in a timely manner.

•Communicate and coordinate regularly with program leadership to ensure that services are being delivered effectively, in a timely manner, and in accordance with social work protocols.

•Conduct outreach, build community partnerships/relationships that improve IRC’s referral network.

•Assist with facilitation of information sharing and training/workshop activities provided to community stakeholders and IRC offices replicating the program.

•Other duties as assigned.

Experience:

•Bachelor’s degree preferred.

•Expertise and experience typically acquired through 2-3 years of relevant work experience in public health, social work, crisis response or domestic violence.

•Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.

•Experience working with children and youth strongly preferred.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

•Proficiency in Swahili is required

•Strong intercultural competence; demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from other cultural backgrounds

•Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.

•Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.

•Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.

•Excellent communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.

•Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

•Valid driver’s license, access to reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area.

Working Environment:

•A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.

•May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
