We are looking for a friendly and experienced phone receptionist to join our team! You will provide a welcoming first impression to callers and will assist refugees, asylees and other immigrants by ensuring they have access to IRC’s services in Northern California. Your professional, customer service-focused attitude will direct callers to the appropriate programs and staff members while responding to inquiries about our services. This position will serve our four Northern California offices including Sacramento, Oakland, Turlock, and San Jose and will be the first line of intake for the Immigration department. You will have the option to be based in any of our offices or work remotely while reporting to NorCal’s Administrative Specialist.

Answer and direct phone calls to the accurate department and/or staff member and follow up on voicemail
Conduct phone screenings to identify general eligibility for programming
Respond to appointment requests and coordinate with staff to facilitate referrals to available programming
Work in collaboration with program staff to create and maintain a regularly updated collection of local client resources and contacts
Assist with reminders for appointments through phone / text messaging, as needed
Other duties as assigned
