The Design Office section EN-CV-DO is in charge of the creation of drawings, 3D models and bills of material, among others, for the different projects and works within the EN-CV group. It provides support to the EN-CV sections during the different phases of the projects, such as carrying out integration studies, participating to the drafting of the tender documents, validating contractors’ drawings, verifying and archiving the as-built documentation.

The DO section provides an interface with the users outside the EN-CV group for any matters related to the provision of 3D models in relations to the EN-CV activities and plants.

As a Mechanical Drafter, you will join the dedicated teams that are in charge of the following projects:

• Upgrade of the SU1 Cooling Station;
• Renovation of the 378 Meyrin Cooling Station.

As a Mechanical Drafter in the EN-CV-DO section, you will:

• Make preliminary technical design studies using a 3D computer-aided design (CAD) system for both new works and modifications to the cooling and industrial piping installations.
• Check on-site that the work carried out meets the specified requirements in close collaboration with CERN engineers and work supervisors.

Skills required for this project:

• Experience in the use of a CAD tool:

Solidworks

Inventor

Catia V5

Autocad

Revit (or equivalent)

• Ability to design cooling water systems.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for a place on the programme you will need to meet the following requirements:

• You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State (https://home.cern/about/member-states);
• You have a Technical Diploma (careers.cern/ttediplomas), preferebly in the field of mechanics or electro-mechanics, and no more than 4 years' relevant experience after finishing your diploma;
• If you are currently studying, you are still eligible to apply, although you are expected to have obtained your qualification by the start of your appointment at CERN;
• If you hold a BSc or MSc, you are not eligible. However you may be eligible for the Fellowship Programme.

You should have at least a working knowledge of English or French.

Additional Information

• An employment contract of one year, renewable for a second year; 
• On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French;
• A monthly stipend of 4585 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax);
• Coverage by CERN’s comprehensive health scheme (for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund;
• Depending on your individual circumstances: an installation grant, family, child and infant allowances as well as travel expenses to and from Geneva;
• 2,5 days of paid leave per month.
