Communication for Development Officer (Polio)

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Job organizational context: The Communication for Development Officer will support the polio eradication efforts in Afghanistan through managing a network of polio social mobilization and community engagement personnel, including Immunization Communication Network, Female Mobilisers Vaccinators, and Social mobilization and monitoring facilitators.

10. Description of tasks:

Under the direct supervision of Communication for Development Specialist, the national UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

• Support the field offices in conducting community engagement meetings, training and polio awareness sessions in line with the regional communication plans.
• Compile the data on the community engagement activities based on developed and agreed M&E indicators and draft the analyses of the conducted interventions.
• Contribute to development, review and quality assurance of C4D materials and training materials to ensure optimum impact within politically and culturally sensitive context.
• Verify and monitor the recruitments of the social mobilization personnel.
• Monitor/track the use of resources as planned and verify compliance with organizational guidelines, rules and regulations and standards of ethics and transparency.
• Support financial management and reporting of the third-party social mobilization contractors in the regions by monitoring, reviewing and verifying financial documents, providing quality assurance, and working with the regional teams to ensure timely submission of payment documentation.
• Develop and maintain a tracking system of the monthly salary payments and allowance (living allowance, travel allowance, etc) for the social mobilization contractors
• Prepare human interest stories, case studies and briefs on community engagement interventions for polio eradication.
• Perform other tasks to facilitate community engagement for polio eradication as requested by the supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:

• A university degree in one of the following fields is required: social and behavioral science, communication, public relations or another relevant field.

Required experience: 24 Months Experience remark:

• A minimum of two years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: communication for development, public relations, communication, advocacy, information management.

Language skills:

• English(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge
• Dari(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
• Pashto(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
