Background: 

The IRC is an international non-profit that responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping people survive and rebuild their lives, leading the way from harm to home. Since the Boise office opened in 2006, IRC Boise has resettled over 3,600 refugees and asylees, and provided aid to the broader Boise community. 

Scope: 

The Immigration Intern provides assistance to qualified individuals seeking immigration legal services. The Immigration Intern works under the guidance of the BIA accredited representative, and in close cooperation with other immigration staff,  and the ESL/Civics Instructors (where applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Answering calls from potential clients, relaying messages or answering their questions as appropriate, and screening them for services. 

  • Under supervision of a DOJ accredited representative, screen and assist eligible individuals to file applications and petitions for immigration benefits such as adjustment of status, family reunification, naturalization and others. 

  • Maintain accurate immigration records and review all files periodically for quality control and to ensure timely application, submissions and follow up on all communications regarding filed petitions. Prepare all files for continued follow-up. 

  • Adhere to the IRC’s financial accounting and record-keeping policies. 

  • Maintain accurate project tracking records and submit all report data on time.
