In July 2016, the State of Kansas withdrew from the administration of federal Office for Refugee Resettlement (ORR) funded programming. The IRC was subsequently selected to serve as “replacement designee” for Kansas, administering benefits outlined in ORR regulations through a newly created Kansas Office for Refugees (KSOR), based in Wichita. The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities and programming that engage community stakeholders throughout the state of Kansas. The Community Engagement Coordinator administers the KSOR AmeriCorps/VISTA project, including proposal development, reporting, and oversight of agency placements. In addition, the position has overall responsibility for the recruitment and training of KSOR VISTA members, interns, and volunteers. This position reports to the Partnership Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

AmeriCorps Program Coordination

•In close consultation with Partnership Manager, administer the state AmeriCorps program.

•Serve as primary KSOR contact for AmeriCorps and agency placement site staff.

•Be knowledgeable of AmeriCorps regulations and requirements.

•Responsible for recruitment, onboarding and training of AmeriCorps members and site staff.

•Conduct project monitoring and prepare reports as required by CNCS.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement

•Lead planning teams for Quarterly Consultation and Community Forums in collaboration with resettlement agency point persons.

•Manage logistics including meeting locations, invitations, speakers, travel and KSOR content for presentations.

•Plan and coordinate meetings and opportunities for connecting resettlement agency staff, public stakeholders and private stakeholders to support the integration of refugees in Kansas.

•Ensure language access for clients that access KSOR programs by ensuring appropriate forms are translated and disseminated to sub-awardees.

Community Education and Training

•Identify and develop opportunities to provide education to public and private stakeholders.

•Develop training and TA efforts of the KSOR team through coordination of the semi-annual training calendar development process, including convening staff to plan the training, releasing the training calendar, ensuring logistics for training webinars,

Volunteer/Intern Coordination

•Identify KSOR needs for volunteer, intern, and AmeriCorps/VISTA support.

•Develop position descriptions, recruit and train volunteers and interns, according to IRC policies and guidelines.

•Serve as primary KSOR contact for volunteers, interns, and AmeriCorps/VISTA members.

General

•Shared responsibility for KSOR administrative support.

•Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Education: 4-year college degree in relevant field required.

Work Experience: Minimum one year operational or administrative experience.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

•Experience with volunteer management and/or event planning preferred.

•Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.

•Experience with refugee populations or other similarly vulnerable populations preferred.

•Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member.

•Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.

•Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); Experience setting up and managing remote meetings required.

Language Skills:Fluency in written and spoken English

Working Environment:

This position is based in the KSOR office in Wichita, Kansas.Standard work environment.Some local and statewide travel expected for meetings and events.CURRENTLY OBSERVING REMOTE WORKING OPERATIONS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
